A dilemma, I need your thoughts especially the protagonists who make these artbooks possible as it may affect the direction of artwork content

Hello my protagonists(supporters) & everyone!

I just recently released my 3rd artbook and there's something I have been meaning to consult to everyone especially the protagonists helping make these artbook possible t.

When it comes to the artwork I am creating, I have been in a dilemma because there are jrpg characters I want to draw again & I am also concern about the ones who have been supporting me and those who will support me in the future.

I underestimated the JRPG genre, while it is niche, almost each game itself have its own passionate and dedicated community and quite expansive. I have been making fanart base on different jrpgs which range from classics to modern one and each game has a rich cast of characters and some even have dozens and can be even hundreds if we include series. The problem arises is when I get a supporter who will support me for that certain jrpg & it not appearing anymore in the future artbook.

This is also where I get into a dilemma of choosing between drawing a new character I haven't drawn for the sake of diversity or that certain character I want to draw again(but already drew in previous artbooks).

At this rate, I don't know if when will I be able to draw these characters again if I keep going with the diversity(some few characters from the list):
Pyra (Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
Mythra (Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
Nia(Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
Nina (Breath of Fire)
Tiki(Fire Emblem: Awakening)

I've been thinking that I should narrow down the list of characters I am going to draw/paint to my top favorites for each jrpg. And to give emphasis on which jrpg should I focus while also drawing some others occasionally.

A modern jrpg example would be:
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - I'd rather draw 10 artworks of (Nia/Mythra/Pyra) over 1 common blade. Also will rather draw Nia/Mythra/Pyra again over other side blade (There is of course some exception as I really like some of the other blades)

Fire Emblem Three Houses/Awakening/etc. - I rather draw Edelgard/Marianne/Bernadetta/etc. 10x over Linhardt

Another classic jrpg example would be:
Legend of Dragoon - I rather draw Rose 10x over Hacht & Kongol.

Breath of Fire 2 - I'd draw Katt/Nina 10x over 1 Bow.

(Don't get me wrong, I like these characters that I compare to, but I would happily enjoy drawing my top favorite characters over & over again + top favorites are always a bias(๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑) )

These will also help me with making those who support me & follow my content have a clearer picture of what can be expected from the artworks I will create & not an RNG/Random lootbox-like artbook. (If you are familiar with smash brothers ultimate, the game itself is actually quite similiar, in my opinion,  to a fanart artbook, but as a fighting game and the characters available there has a very broad range of genre & it came to the point that not everyone can be happy/content with new character releases due to its diversity and is something i prefer not to be in a state in).

While I will still be doing other jrpgs, here is the list of jrpg series I want to focus on.
Xeno series  (particularly the xenoblade series)
• Fire Emblem series
(particularly Awakening, Fates, Three Houses, Blazing Blade, etc.)
Breath of Fire Series

And my top favorite characters from these games such as Pyra, Mythra, Nia, Lucina, Tiki, Azura, Lyn, Nina, Katt, and so on. Even these little number of characters has many potential as I can draw them in many & different ways of portrayal.

Then the last on the list would be assorted jrpgs which I guess can be treated as a bonus artwork content for the artbook. Such example of these jrpgs are Persona, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Zelda(although more of an arpg), Suikoden, Tales of Series, Shin Megami Tensei, Trails Series, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Vanguard Bandits, Brigandine, , Valkyrie Profile, Bravely Series, Wild Arms, Thousand Arms, & many many more. I will draw my top favorite characters from these games. And the list will only continues to grow as I discover more games & new game releases.

In summary or few words, I want to prioritize drawing my top favorite characters over again & again  instead of trying to put too much diversity.

I guess having a commission artwork(which is outside of the artbook/personal artwork) could be an option If others want me to draw/paint their favorite character for that certain game(Still considering if I'll open a big list or a small short one, but that would be for another topic in the future).

Perhaps I may or may not already have the answer on what I will do, but I want to know your opinion(๑ÒωÓ๑).

Thank you for sparing your time to read or even just check this post(^v^) .

This may come as a good news or bad news to some, but I am looking forward to your vote in the poll or any opinion you may have as it may dictate the direction of the content(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

Thank you Jeremy for sharing your thoughts, it definitely helps! That's true, there is indeed many possibility even just for 1 character. Thank you, I'll try my best to do everything with passion (^▽^)

Best thing is always to draw what you want to draw, if you feel like sticking to your favourites go for it and if you want to mix it up once in a while go for it too. There's so many possibilities with even one character from one game that it's always best to take everything at your pace because that's when you'll make your best work, when you're really passionate about what you're making. Hope that helps!

Thank you Ember for also sharing your thoughts. Yes, there are just so many things to do with certain characters especially when adding fictional elements(๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑).

Thank you Monkeyzilla for sharing your thoughts. It's the first time I heard about moemorphism. Oh I guess an example of those are anime-like character representation like browsers or something(๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑). Thank you again & I'll definitely give my best to have passion in the artworks I create (๑´ㅂ`๑)

Personally, I say you should move  forward abit, but If you want to draw different variations of favorite characters you already drew go for it! Just include one, or two new ones for the other folks. The bonus assorted jrpgs idea would work just fine for this.

I believe you should draw whatever is is you want buddy. If you wanna draw JRPG's, go for it, if you wanna draw something from a different game genre, go for it, anime/manga, you could create anime characters from inanimate objects like on r/moemorphism, you could draw echi, whatever. It's all about passion, and if you're not passionate about what you're drawing then it will affect the outcome. This is all coming from a guy that joined because of your Xenoblade 2 artwork, so you know I'm not being biased now. Keep up the hard work buddy😊

Thank you Myuuis for sharing all your thoughts, preference, and what you truly feel. And your points also does make sense. I am looking into playing Shadow Dragon so somewhere this year so I can really look & understand the characters and world. Also an opportunity to learn more about younger Tiki(^v^). Ah, Link, yes, he is one of the males I want to draw. I know he is a Hylian, but an elf-like look is a big plus to me. Thank you for looking forward to my artworks, I think all, if not, most of the game you mention is part of the list of games I wanted to draw. I'll keep trying my best so I can make fun content to be enjoyed (๑´ㅂ`๑)

I will be honest here, because I think it’s what you’re looking for. I came to find your art and support you, because of your Fire Emblem artworks. I love what you do with the beautiful ladies in that series, but I also love your Xenoblade artwork as well. I don’t really care for the Breath of Fire artworks, because I have never played any of those games, but I enjoy any artwork that you do. I would prefer if you stuck to well known characters, because that is what will draw new supporters/customers to your brand. I noticed that, in your comparisons, many of the characters that you would prefer to do artworks of are female characters over male characters. I am in full support of this, because you do great work with the female form, although I would also like to see artwork of some very well known, fan favorite male characters, such as Link from the Legend of Zelda or Ike, Marth, Chrom, or Hector from the Fire Emblem series. I would also like to see more artwork, done by you, of characters from series like Final Fantasy, Pokémon, Persona, and Bravely Default. This is how I truly feel, but I also want you to know that I enjoy any art that you create. Thank you for your time and the effort that you put into creating your art.

Thank you Hunter for expressing your thoughts. That is a neat idea & could work too. I can also consider making crossovers between characters form different Fire Emblem (ᗒᗨᗕ)

Thank you killik. for your thoughts. That's true, there is enjoyment in drawing others. I was thinking of mainly doing Pyra Mythra Nia and then perhaps ocassionally do the other blades/characters like theory (๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts SpookieBoggie and loving the artworks. Yes, I am thinking of them being in the assorted list of jrpgs. so it becomes Xeno Series + Fire Emblem Series + Breath of Fire Series + Assorted jrpgs. I love revisiting these classic & unnoticed jrpgs & give them love through fanart so they will never disappear (๑´ㅂ`๑)

Even if you draw the stuff you like the most, from time to time you'll gain enjoyment for other character you want to draw. Do what you love dont feel pressured by numbers😊

I think there's a balance to be had between new vs. favorite, but if you really love drawing your favorites, then go nuts with them. That being said, every time someone new shows up in your artbooks, it's always fantastic. Seeing Flynn or Ursula, or characters that otherwise don't get a lot of attention in your unique style is great

I think diversity is nice, but you need to love your craft. Possibly if you want to draw Edelgard again but you've never drawn Linheart you could possibly combine those into 1 drawing of El scolding Lin.
