Mini-Episode 35: Kindness and Internment Camps
Added 2025-05-10 17:29:02 +0000 UTCIn response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the U.S. government passed Executive Order 9066. This executive order combined with war-time hysteria and racism led to Japanese-Americans living on the West Coast, from toddlers to elders, to be rounded up and sent to internment camps. In this awful context, a young Mexican-American man named Ralph Lazo offered an incredible example of kindness.

So cool to see another Mexican American do something so selfless. I live in Canada now and have heard from the descendants of interned Japanese here. Really interesting to get something you would normally never come across, thank you Danielle!
