Chapter 9: Delivery
<<<Sistermon Blanc>>>

Blanc didn’t really know what to think of her partner. Brian was… angry, but he’d been taken from his family so she could understand that. She loved her family more than anything else in the world, after all, but when King Drasil gave you a mission you followed it because he always knew best.

That’s what Gankoomon said, and he was a Royal Knight so he had to have been super wise.

Maybe he’d be happier knowing his sister would be another Digidestined? But maybe not, knowing she’d be in direct danger wouldn’t be calming for anyone. It didn’t truly matter since she wasn’t allowed to tell him, but she couldn’t help but wonder about his reactions.

Especially to what her Crest was, if what he’d said about her was accurate the girl was nothing if not a prankster. A girl after her own heart, really.

Oh sure, she restrained herself and she hated putting herself out there; but she would be a terrible escort if she couldn’t see tricks and traps coming.

And the best way to learn how to spot them was to plan them for others to execute in your name, with or without their knowledge. Noir was far too trusting of her sometimes, not that she ever minded the fun things they ended up getting into as a result of her plans.

All three of them were a team, she handled the direct protection, Noir handled offense, and Ciel was proactive protection. She liked that idea most, being like Ciel sounded fun; going out and beating up bad guys before they started doing evil had helped so many people!

… And she’d just had the perfect idea to get Brian to like her more!

“Hey Brian,” She spoke up, Vixi and Lisa had started talking about politics stuff that was boring and didn’t matter at all so it was the perfect time to talk! “Have I ever told you about my sisters?”

“No? I don’t think you have…” Brian said, still clearly angry but more at the entire situation than at anyone specifically, “What are they like?” He asked as he turned to face her.

“Ciel is super friendly,” She started, “But if she hears evil is going on, watch out! She’ll go after it with a vengeance and her sword and she is so cool. So cool.” She was gushing, she knew she was gushing, but Ciel was just that awesome. “She’s like a superhero!”

Brian just smiled and started to actually untense, resting his chin in the palm of his hand.

And Blanc knew she did the right thing!

“And then there’s Noir, she’s friendly but, um, super aggressive?” Blanc coughed, “I always work with her because she needs someone to reign her in. She’s helping train Hackmon with me and Ciel only half because it’s her duty, the other half is because she finds it fun. Really fun, when she’s allowed to go out and start fighting bad guys.” She loved Noir deeply, but she caused problems because she found it fun.

Blanc also found it fun, but she needed to learn when it was appropriate!

“Anyway, I had to leave them to get to you,” She started to finish, “Because this was more important and if I didn’t and you and the others failed as a result they’d die too!” Her voice cracked a bit at the thought. “S-so there!”

Brian just patted her shoulder, “We’ll make sure everyone’s safe, okay Blanc?”N

“Then we need to save the world,” She replied with a strong nod, “Both of them.”

“You got it,” Brian said, “It’ll be a change from what I usually do.” He added with a faint, almost self-mocking chuckle.

Excellent, she’d gotten him on board fully! Now, Blanc just had to keep him empathizing with and loving her! Sure, it was underhanded but it was also all true and it was needed! Especially since she had a feeling that the only other person in his life he truly cared about was his sister.

With a spin of her trusty trident, Cross Barbée, she said, “But as long as we’re all together and friends, allies, Partners, we’ll pull through.” Then a thought struck her, “Huh, we’re near where I grew up.”

“The Hive?” Brian asked, looking confused, “You don’t look like a bug…”

“Pff, no,” She laughed, “Virus City.” Blanc paused to let his shock process. “Of course, I wasn’t a Sistermon then, I was just a Tokomon, but my sisters and I fought and lived on the streets for a while after our parents disappeared,” She explained, “We think a criminal organization took their data and deleted them, but even Gankoomon was unable to discover the full truth.”

“Damn, I’m sorry to hear that…” Brian said, “I… can’t say I know the feeling but I have an idea…” He trailed off.

Her hand waved, “We’ll meet them again someday, it might take many lifetimes but these things tend to work themselves out eventually.”

Brian snorted at that, though he did mutter, “Wish it worked like that for me and Aisha…”

“It will,” She replied with a smile, “You’ve already interacted with one miracle, after all, what’s the harm in wishing for a second?” With a soft tug on her rabbit themed habit, she asked “You didn’t think this was for show, did you? I’ve seen his true face, the great World Tree, Yggdrasil. It will work out, promise. Maybe in a way you didn’t expect, maybe in a way you didn’t want, but things will end better than they began, that’s the way of the world.”

And if they didn’t, she’d force them to. The world would bend to that wish because it was Right.

Then Lisa stopped and groaned, “King Drasil? Yggdrasil!? How the hell did I miss that!?” She whined dramatically.

Vixi giggled, “Oh my, I hadn’t even considered telling you that!” She announced, grinning wide, “Yes, King Drasil is his proper name, but the location of his soul is called Yggdrasil.”

“... We’re on a mission from a God Tree straight from Norse Mythology…” Lisa groaned.

“What’s a Norse?” Blanc asked, head tilting. She’d run into something new, she had to know! “It might just be a name we pulled from a random database and King Drasil decided it was fine.”

“You know what? When we get back to Earth I’ll take you two to a library and you can read it.” Lisa said, “Mythology is actually a very interesting subject… though the library might be flooded out…”

“That’s fixable,” Vixi said with a shrug, “We deal with floods all the time from storms or giant waves. A lot of them caused by Ultimate digimon, but that’s close enough.”

Lisa just grumbled something, Blanc was pretty sure it was something like ‘it’s bullshit’ and Vixi just snickered before giving her partner a hug and a pat on the back.

“Oh, and we’re being followed,” Blanc noted, “Just though you guys should know that.” She wasn’t surprised the others hadn’t noticed, they weren’t looking up enough. “I think they’re from the hive.”

It wasn’t hard to guess that much, they were FanBeemon.

Lisa just grumbled something, but it was muffled by Renamon’s fur and Lisa burying her face in her shoulder, before she looked up.

“Hey! We got a delivery for the Hive! You mind showing a shortcut for us poor landlocked beings?” She asked dryly.

They just flew over a river, a river they’d been following looking for a bridge over, and waved towards them.

“... Of course,” Lisa sighed, rubbing her face, “And there aren’t any trees for miles now, so we can’t even build a bridge…”

Vixi snickered, grinning wide as she suggested, “I could throw you?”

“Don’t. You. Dare.” Lisa said glaring at her partner with narrow eyes.

“Aw, come on, it’d be fun,” She teased, “I’ll aim for a bush.”

Where the bush would actually come from, Blanc wasn’t entirely sure. Maybe Vixi could see something she didn’t.

“How about you use that martial arts bullshit to sweep me off my feet and run us over there?” Lisa retorted dryly, though she blushed faintly.

“Oh, good idea!” Vixi replied, picking Lisa up as she started running at the river; Lisa screaming the entire way.

The reason for it was revealed quickly: Vixi wasn’t running across, she was jumping. And jumping successfully. Blanc had to hand it to her, Vixi was strong… and poor at aiming, her trajectory was going to take them straight into the water.

But, still, she had to give the Renamon credit, she had style.

The splash was impressive too, even if Lisa looked distinctly unhappy with it.

Brian eyed Blanc, “You are not doing that to me.” He said flatly, though his lips twitched in amusement.

“I have better aim though!” She complained, pouting hard, “But I wasn’t going to do that anyway, I have a better way across!”

Then she tossed her trident down, stepped on it, and began surfing on its floating shaft. “Just get on the wide part! Ciel did this all the time with her katana!” Which just made her cooler in her opinion.

Brian looked at her trident before sighing, “Why not?” He said with a chuckle, carefully stepping onto the pointy bits she stuck into bad guys usually.

She set off with a wide grin, surfing first across the grass, then the rocks, then the rushing waters below, “I know why Ciel does this so often!” She announced, “It’s really fun!”

Brian was likely to think it was less so, though, because her turning to stop sent him tumbling into the grass (which was totally and completely not at all planned by her in any way and anyone that said otherwise was a liar), which made her, Lisa, and Vixi giggle madly. “I’m sure you’ll stay on next time!” She said, “I might just have to hold you. Or you could hold me!”

Brian just grumbled before pushing himself up and sighing.

“Ok… how far are we from the hive, now?” Brian sighed, brushing grass out of his clothes, “Not that far away, I hope?”

“Oh, no, just another eight miles that way,” Lisa replied, pointing off into the distance, “Nothing much. We’ll need to stop for camp once, but eh. Compared to everything else we’ve done, this is nothing.”

“Well, that’s not bad,” Brian admitted.

Blanc really wanted to know what their lives were like, she knew even most digimon would find a full day’s hike to be a lot. She didn’t, and Vixi probably felt the same just because she was so young, but she’d been traveling for a decade by then.

And she was very annoyed she hadn’t digivolved yet, on that note!

She just knew she was on the edge of it, she could feel it! She just didn’t know how to take that final step! Fighting wasn’t enough! She wasn’t sure what more she could do!

But it would work out, things always did. Brian would help her, she was sure of it… she just didn’t know how.

“No time like the present then,” Vixi said with a grin, “Let’s start!” Her stomach rumbled. “After we eat!”

Lisa sighed.
