<<<Lisa Wilbourn>>>
Trying to be better than a villain, only to turn around and do something villainous, like perform a jailbreak or overthrow a leader. Viximon was lucky she’s so cute, and that Lisa was susceptible to such things, otherwise she’d just go to sleep. After all, it probably wasn’t her fault that the Dragon Leader got caught or overthrown.
Still, Viximon’s puppy dog eyes could be registered as lethal weapons.
So there she was, sneaking out of her room. After a talk, they’d decided to start with the dungeons. Though Lisa really hoped that the lady’s minions didn’t sleep down there or anything.
A large spider ghosted by their vision, causing Lisa to freeze before it had moved on. “Too close,” Viximon whispered, “I hear digimon ahead, and chains.”
“Damnit,” Lisa hissed, “Let’s get closer and find a place to hide and listen.” She’d come that far, and it was too late to cut and run.
That Dragon Boss better be grateful for this, damnit!
“Yeah, you better run, you big dumb spider!” A young male called out, “If I had my gun, you’d be sorry!” It didn’t seem to care about coming back in response to the taunts.
“The fuck?” Lisa muttered to herself, “This is the boss? Sounds too… young…”
“Well… you can’t have a kingdom without servants and soldiers, right?” Viximon noted, hopping down ahead, “Oh, it’s a Commandramon!”
“A Viximon?” The… camo and armor-covered dinosaur asked, “And a human!? What cruel trickery is this? Arukenimon, you vile vixen! Let Aegisdramon go!” Oh, the camo was his skin…
{Pattern is changing in response to surroundings.}
“I have no idea who or what that is,” Lisa said dryly.
“Our Lady and Liege!” He replied, “She rules with magnanimity and benevolence! The Queen of All Dramon!”
“That’s nice, now how about you tell me how to get you and your boss free so me and my friend can get some sleep without worrying about being eaten by a spider?” Lisa snarked.
“If she wasn’t crippled, she’d have beaten Arukenimon with ease!” He announced, “She’s trapped in the throne room but…” He frowned, something that looked distinctly worrying on his fang-filled face, “There will be so many guards… if you free us, her valiant foot soldiers, we’ll be able to distract them. There’s a KoDokugumon guarding the keys, a smaller spider Digimon. Any of us could beat it if we had our weapons, but… maybe Viximon could too.”
“God, where’s Taylor when you need her.” She muttered, “She’d love this hero shit… okay, so distraction then! Vixi you good?”
“I think I can fight one,” She replied, thinking seriously, “At least long enough for you to steal the keys and free the prisoners.”
Lisa just stopped herself from dying inside. She knew she said to Viximon she’d try and be better, but honestly, she never wanted to be involved with the whole Hero/Villain scene. Really, all she wanted was to be safe, find a nice job, and just live a comfortable life. Maybe find a significant other or a life partner, get a pet, or something.
Not fight a spider-themed super villain in a fucked up twist of what her closest friend could do!
Shaking her head, she looked at the imprisoned digimon. “Okay, we’ll be back soon,” She said before looking at Viximon, “Come on Vixi, let’s go.”
Viximon nodded her head and they two made their way out of the cell to find the KoDokugumon with the keys.
“Now, where would I be if I had the keys…” Lisa muttered, “This Ko digimon’s pretty noticeable right?”
“... Is it a small spider digimon that likes glaring at people from the ceiling?” Viximon, looking up at said ceiling. “Because I think the answer is yes…”
The… dog sized digimon spider with a mouth of teeth did have the keys. In its mouth.
Then it swallowed them. And then laughed at them.
“... Want me to beat it up?” Viximon offered, “Cause I think that’s our only option now…”
Lisa just sighed, “Yes. Goddamnit, can’t I ever go on a heist without any problems?” She muttered.
The digimon dropped down to try and eat Lisa too, but Viximon tackled it away. The digimon switched from Lisa and looked at Viximon with a snarl, and Lisa wished she could help but sadly she didn’t have any ammo for her handgun. And for some reason she felt that throwing it would just annoy the digimon.
The fight was… brutal to watch, the spider digimon using its mouth to bite Viximon brutally and smack her into the walls. But Viximon was getting her own hits in, every time she was bitten she exploded into a cloud of poison and toxins, and she always tried to rebound off the wall she’d been hit into to tackle the creature once more.
“Come on Vixi, you can do it!” She thought as she held her digidevice tightly, regretting she was so squishy and couldn’t help her partner other than being a damn cheerleader!
The digivice began to glow and she felt… something inside her stirring, burning its way free from her breast.
She looked at the device before looking back to Viximon, “Come on Vixi! Show this bug what you can do!” Honestly she wasn’t even worried about being caught as the clash wasn’t quiet and no one had come running.
Viximon started glowing herself, growing and a clean, pure tone echoing in the room. Instinctively, she knew she was the only one that could hear it.
“Power Paw!” Viximon? called out, a tall humanoid fox woman standing where her small fluff ball friend once did, slamming her palm against the spider and throwing it away. “Diamond Storm!” She called once more, throwing a storm of leaves against it; leaves that left scars in the wall around it as the spider slumped, dead.
“Huh…” Lisa guessed this is that digievolution thing she mentioned a while back…
“Thank you, for believing in me,” She said, bowing to Lisa, “You have helped me digivolve into Renamon.”
“Uh, yeah… okay.” Lisa said, “Guess you’re going to want a separate bed when we finally get some sleep?” Which is a shame as she was looking forward to cuddling the ball of floof.
“I wouldn’t mind sleeping with you?” Renamon replied, looking confused at the idea that anything would be weird about that, “I am the same person I was before, just… with more wisdom.”
“Sorry, human thing,” Lisa said, “Now let’s get the keys and get this over with.”
The spider had finished dissolving into data in the time they’d spoken, data that was quickly absorbed into the digivice in her hand. ‘Dark Evolution Data Acquired: Bug. Progress at 5%.’
“Huh…” Lisa muttered as she walked over and scooped up the keys, “I’ll just unpack that later…”
With that she looked to Vixi- Renamon, “Well I guess we should unlock that digimon and find his boss.” She said.
“There’s more than just him,” Renamon noted, “We could give him the keys and have him unlock the others? He knows the dungeon better than we do.”
“Yeah, I like that idea.” Plus it’d hopefully keep them out of any more danger, “Let’s go Vixi- err, Reni?”
“You can call me whatever you like,” Renamon started, “As long as it isn’t insulting, I have some standards after all…”
“Heh, sure Vixi. Though you’re still that adorable floof I first met,” She teased before making their way back to the other prisoner.
“Mm, I’ll show you floof.” Renamon’s voice had a dangerous edge… and the grin sported was more than a little mischievous.
Lisa… was not intimidated by that, but she also wasn’t unaffected either. She didn’t know why her body felt suddenly warmer, but she could figure that out later.
“The hell was that?” They wondered as they went back to free the other digimon.
It turned out… there were a lot of captured digimon, a lot of whom were civilians and children. Because of course the supervillain would do that… and threaten to eat them if they did anything annoying.
Honestly it made her feel nostalgic almost, minus the threat of eating anyways.
And while it felt good to help free all those digimon, all Lisa really wanted was to go to sleep…
But they had one more place to go as fighting started in the castle, battles ringing out across the floating city: The Throne Room.
It wasn’t all that hard to reach, not when another digimon, a monodramon, was acting as a guide.
“That’s… a big dragon…” Lisa muttered as she looked upon the restrained Leader of the Dragons. Sadly, its golden majesty was ruined by the half-transparent cocoon of black silk surrounding it, pulsing with energy she could only call dark every few seconds, and a large blade sticking from its chest.
{The sword is a lynchpin.}
“Okay but… how to we free the dragon?” Lisa honestly doubted it would be as simple as pulling the sword out.
{Yes it really is that simple.}
“... I think my power is being sassy…” Lisa muttered before she sighed, “Well let’s get this over with…”
“Ah-ah-ah,” The woman from before started, a hoard of spider digimon filling the room, “Let’s not.”
The great dragon behind them glared at her, but was unable to speak; straining against her binds and driving the sword deeper into her chest as she did.
“Arukenimon!” The digimon that guided them called out.
“I knew something was off with you…” Lisa muttered as she tried to figure out what to do, as she rightfully assumed that the woman could paste her or Vixi with no effort.
“Such a shame too,” She sighed, slowly transforming into a… hideous parody of a drider; red, purple, and white coloration across her features, “I really was going to let you both sleep, you know.”
“I know,” Lisa said with a sigh, “Sadly, my partner felt like something was wrong and well… she had some very effective puppy dog eyes,” She snarked.
“And then you started freeing all those annoying little wannabe heroes…” She continued, stalking slowly towards them, “I knew I should have just eaten them, but no.~ ‘They’ll be more useful alive once we corrupt them,’” She snarled, “Pointlessly complicated plots. Barbamon is an idiot.”
“To be fair, I understand how annoying heroes could be,” Lisa said in hopes to distract her, “Granted I never wanted to be a villain in the first place, but there’s a thrill of escaping the goody two-shoes isn’t there?”
“I prefer just eating them,” She stomped, cracking the stones under her feet, “But that’s fine, that’s fine. I’ll have plenty of food once you’ve been captured…”
“I don’t think I’d be that filling, just skin and bone really…” Lisa said slowly as she backed up, “Honestly, I don’t even think you’d get good data from me. It’s just all sarcasm, migraines, and snark.”
“Oh, I wasn’t going to eat you,” She replied with a hungry grin, “I was going to eat all of the digimon in the forest I’ve been gifted.~”
“Ah… I mean, maybe the red bug digimon might be filling? Heh?” She tried weakly only for Vixi to jump forward.
“Lisa! Pull the sword out! Now!” She shouted.
Lisa did not need to be told twice, and so she lunged at the blade; the golden dragon ceasing its movements as she struggled pulling it out. She heard Vixi fighting in the background, heard her grunting in pain, but she couldn’t, wouldn’t, look back. Fear of what she’d see and duty keeping her away from the act.
“Come. On. You. Stupid. Fucking. Thing!” She cursed as she pulled at the sword.
“Cut the threads…” The dragon whispered out, “The ones on the crossguard."
“Fucking… of course,” Lisa hissed as she pulled out a pocket knife as quickly as she could and started cutting away at the strings, trying to slice as fast as possible. “If Vixi dies because of this…”
Eventually the strings gave away and Lisa pulled at the sword again, this time pulling it out and falling backwards.
The dragon exploded free.
“Energy Cannon!” She cried out, firing two large beams at the spider woman even as she kicked a larger spider that had tried to sneak up on Lisa away. “Stay away from that noble digimon!” Vixi was just out of the beam’s width as the evil digimon was… obliterated, the rest of the spiders fleeing.
Lisa landed on her back with a groan, “Fuck my life…” She wheezed, the sword resting on her chest, “Think I’ll stay here for a bit…”
The dragon turned to her, voice gentle and… kind, painfully so. “Rest, Renamon will be cared for and given what healing we can offer.”
{Wants the best for you. Wants to help.}
“Planning on it…” Lisa said, “Just let me… rest my eyes a bit… then I can get to a guest room…”
Lisa closed her eyes and just relaxed a little.
