Chapter 17: Hosu Drama
<<<Ida Tenya>>>

Manuel is a text book example of an efficient hero, he’s shown Ida how to file the paperwork, the proper procedures to follow, and case by case examples of how sometimes using your quirk can make things difficult. Which had him pondering situations in which his classmates' quirks would do more harm than good.

Monday’s quirk simply broke the mold, and Himari’s everything simply defied many conventions. Allowing them greater flexibility and tactical freedom, due to Monday’s “Everywhere and Nowhere” oddness, and Himari being able to adjust and customize her drones on the fly.

In Ida’s case, he didn’t operate well in inclosed spaces with limited space and tight turns. Something he’d been attempting to work on with mixed results. He’d normally go to his brother for advice but-

Ida just closed his eyes as that oh so familiar anger bubbled back to the surface, he’d avenge his brother! He may have survived, but with the possibility of being crippled… was it really living? Everyone in the family had Engine, which augmented their ability to move. And being crippled could be considered a fate worse than death!

“I’ll find you, Stain!” He swore to himself.

“Ida! Where are you?” He heard Manuel call from downstairs, “We need to head out on patrol!”

While a part of him hated the fact that he was delayed by patrolling and training, he couldn’t deny he was learning quite a bit about hero procedures and the like. Even if his quirk training took a hit, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix himself with some effort.

“Coming!” He replied as he started checking his costume to ensure everything was secured before putting his helmet out and headed to the door. “Soon, I’ll get you Stain!”

It was moments like this when he was patrolling with Manuel, that Ida regretted his impulsive choices. While an effective hero, Manuel wasn’t an A-class hero in the slightest. He mainly dealt with low level crime, investigations, and helping the police in their duties. All respectable things but… Ida had a legacy to live up to.

And truly it was decidedly teenager-like to want to run before they could effectively walk. He knew this, and yet still found himself slightly annoyed.

If it wasn’t for Stain he’d be interning in his family's Hero agency, or interning with his brother!

But now the sun was setting, and he was supposed to be going home for the day, to relax in bed for another day of learning the following.

Native had gone on ahead, figuring that Ida needed a nice walk to think things through, and he did but it felt like a deception on his part. While he did need time to think, he also spent his time checking alleyways, knowing Stain preferred striking from them… which put him in something of a bind seeing as he wouldn’t be able to use his quirk fully.

But once more his desire for revenge overwhelmed his common sense.

<<<Monday>>>

“Goddamnit Ida…” She groaned as she rubbed her face in frustration.

He’d been doing so good too! Yeah, he still went out looking for Stain but he didn’t stay out all night, just an hour or two every night. He focused on learning as much as he could from Manuel, despite the fact his own quirk training suffered. He was professional, punctual, and the same anal retentive guy obsessed with rules and regulations.

Then the fucker went and found Stain while he was in the middle of murdering a guy.

And what does he do? Attack.

Looking over to the Pussy Cats, who were just lounging around. Having decided she’d done so well with training they were just going to take a day to relax before returning to the grind. And Monday wasn’t so cocky to believe she could beat Stain, but she did have an idea…

“So, who wants to drop on the Hero Killer like a ton of bricks while I save my classmate from suffering a terminal case of dead?” She asked.

“I’m sorry, what? I think I got something stuck in my ear,” Ragdoll said.

“Well currently Hosu is being attacked by monsters like the one from USJ, and my… well he’s not my friend but my classmate’s brother was crippled and he decided to get revenge,” Monday said, “Honestly I can just pop in and get out, I just figured you’d all want to help. Plus I think rock monsters would give Stain hell.”

“... Yeah let’s go,” Mandalay said, standing up and cracking her knuckles, “Let’s see how Stain deals with top 20 heroes like us!”

“Okay… is it wrong to say I want to watch and eat popcorn?” She shook her head, “Later, anyway stand close and get ready, the landing might be bumpy.” She added as she all gathered around her.

Closing her eyes she caught them in her power before everything shifted.

And they all found themselves in an alleyway, and while the Pussycats quickly collected themselves Monday quickly blinked over and grabbed Ida who was about to be impaled, and blinked away.

“You stupid, stupid idiot!" She’d ream him good and proper when this shitshow was over, “And don’t you even open your mouth lest I break your damn jaw!”

Ida was… not doing good, based on his face and eyes. His brush with mortality had left him visibly shaken, his mouth moving without sounds. Eventually his voice came back, though, “I’m sorry…” He whispered.

“I’ll chew you out proper later, but that’s good,” Monday said, “Now stay with whatshisname, and I’m going to help with S&R. But I warn you, if you try some shit after Stain’s beaten you will not enjoy the consequences!” She wasn’t even talking about her breaking his jaw.

A student killing a defeated villain for revenge? Monday could only imagine how that’d go.

Distantly, she saw Himari actually fighting some of the nomu, but seeing as one had jumped onto the drone’s back… she found it hard to blame her. But, search and rescue came first; and so she teleported in and out of houses and existence, headache building as she forced her quirk to work for her.

Civilians needed to be pulled from fires, out of collapsing buildings, and away from active combat. Stain was fighting extremely well against the Pussycats, but that was a losing battle from the start; his quirk seemingly useless against Pixie-Bob’s monsters. Tiger had been disabled early in the fight, but he recovered quickly.

Mandalay dodged a swipe of his knife even as she thought of it, her palm strike to his stomach sending him into a wall… which erupted into a rock monster, grabbing the villain and holding him still; defeating him.

Honestly keeping an eye on them was well worth the growing headache, she just hoped shit wrapped up before it turned into a migraine.

“Okay, let’s get you lot somewhere safe,” Monday said to a family of three, “Just stay close okay?”

The way they looked to her as a Hero… well, she’d be lying if she said it didn’t feel really nice. Fluffy inside, even. It made the pain more than worth it.

They gathered around her and with a faint wince she shifted them all to the nearest evacuation spot, where she almost stumbled as she held her head.

“Yeah, I’m going to be useless tomorrow…” She thought as she massaged her temples in hopes to help ease the throbbing pain.

“Are you okay?” The mother, she guessed, asked as the other two held her legs tightly.

“Quirk overuse,” She said, “You three okay? Shifting can be kind of bumpy.”

“It was alarming, but it went by so fast it didn’t matter,” She said, “What’s the name of our Hero?” She asked, once more making her feel all fluffy inside.

“Lady Quantum, and not a Hero yet. Just an intern for now,” Monday said with a chuckle as she opened her eyes, though she squinted, “Well, you three stay safe. Got more work to do.” She added before shifting away.

She heard a last “Thank you!” before she appeared in another location, a man had his leg trapped under an overturned car. He didn’t seem hurt, being made out of literal diamonds must have been at least a bit useful for him there, but nor could he free himself.

Leaning down she grabbed him by the shoulder, “Lady Quantum,” She introduced, “Now just stay still and…” With another quick shift they were at another evacuation area.

And this time she fell on her ass, her head throbbing like someone was using her head as a drum. And she felt something warm oozing from her nose?

“My God, you’re bleeding!”

“Oh, that’s what that is…” She muttered, “Lost sight of the Pussycats too… damn I was wanting to watch that fight…” Maybe she should just… rest for a few minutes… yeah that sounded like a good idea.

Himari, in her interaction drone, was there to catch her. “Don’t overdo it,” She advised, slowly taking her to a cot, “We’ve got you.” Then she turned and yelled, “Medic! Quirk overuse this time! Possible aneurysm, definite blood pressure issues!”

She really wanted to get back to it, but she didn’t want Himmi to call her a stupid idiot like she did Ida. Oh and she was going to enjoy reaming that anal retentive book-thumping dumbass! Not even Pros could get away with that shit unless there were extenuating circumstances involved! And even then they don’t! She didn’t know how it worked in Japan, but if Ida pulled that shit back in the States?

Being expelled and blacklisted from ever becoming a Hero was the least of his concerns!

… Though that’s probably the brain damage showing itself…

A doctor was standing over her now, cleaning up blood and checking her blood pressure, her heart rate, and wheeling in an emergency CAT scanner. “Blink if you can understand my words.”

She blinked.

“Hmm, you can understand me but the desync is concerning…” He muttered, shining a too-bright light in her eyes, “Don’t pass out on me…”

“Kinda eepy, doc…” She slurred as her eyes started to dilate.

“Don’t sleep,” He said, snapping his fingers in her face, “Stay awake, we need to make sure you don’t have too much brain damage or internal bleeding.”

She blinked, “Kay… the pople safe?”

“Yes, they’re safe,” He replied, “Everyone you brought here is safe.” One of the nurses was pushing an IV into her… and a needle, injecting something into her.

“Good… tupid Idsa… makin’ me watch him all the time…” She mumbled, “Brother still alive, dum ass… I was havin’ fun with the cats… stupid idsa… upid Tain…”

“Fifteen CCs of enalapril!” The doctor ordered, “Get her blood pressure down. Ten CCs fosphenytoin!”

“So yelly…” Why was she shaking? Is it an earthquake?? Did the Giant Lady fall down on her ass?

“She’s having a seizure, shit,” The doctor mumbled as the world started fully fading away, “Get me a leather strap from somewhere, and a vomit bucket! Where is that ambulance!? She needs to get to a hospital yesterday!”

Heheh… funny man…

She felt something being pushed into her mouth, but before she had the opportunity to question it she took the opportunity to pass out; it saved on the awkwardness.
