Helena flushed a bright red, “M-mom!”
Laura snickered and patted Carmen’s back as he coughed, and Annabeth didn’t know what to really say so she focused on her breakfast hoping she would be overlooked.
“We had to force him to do anything untoward,” Laura said with a nod, “So yes, yes he was. Absolutely and one hundred percent a gentleman. I was not a proper lady, but no one expects me to be. Ever.”
“Oh?” Sally giggled, “So like Helena’s father then?” She added coyly.
“Mom!” Helena exclaimed.
“What? I just want to make sure you’re treated right, sweetie.” What was worse was she was being completely serious, “Besides, your father was very much the same, honestly I had to browbeat that man sometimes…” She added with a huff, a playful glint in her eye.
