Sneak Peeks and some other stuff~

Hey guys, it has been a while since the last update. Let's throw in here a small summary of what's been going on in the kitchen...

New repeatable event: Town

The biggest optional event so far, is a new location to take the main 9. Unlike other events, the girls and you will stay in a rented house. Not enough rooms for everyone, so you'll have to shared beds~

It has very similar gameplay mechanics to the base game. A map of it's own. Locations to discover in a similar fashion to those old, text-adventure games.

One of the big differences from regular gameplay, is that the days in Town are longer. Regular HR has four times: Morning, Afternoon, Night and Late Night. With Late Night forcing you to return to your room and end the day.

Town, on the other hand, has six: Early Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening, Night and Late Night. Late Night forces you to return to the house, but NOT end the day. As you'll be able to choose with which group of girls you want to sleep with... or maybe something else 👀

Town also adds three new outfits for each one of the main 9, and those outfits won't be exclusive to this event (though you'll have to come here at least once to unlock them). So, the 21 girls will get their character sprites remade~

Those sprites were the very first images I rendered for general use, and it shows. The new sprites has most of the expressions and poses reworked, so the girls look cuter and stuff~

Other than new locations and outfits, Town also introduces new characters to meet and romance~

However, the returning characters, like Suzume, won't allow for much interaction if you haven't cleared her in the repeatable pool event. So, gotta do that first to hang out with her in Town~

The same logic applies for the other EXTRA girls that will show up~

When it's completed, Town will serve as a great place to spend time while waiting for future updates~

Updates to character routes:

If you haven't been lurking around in the Discord server, you probably are wondering what the hell is going on with Megumi and Nagisa... they haven't gotten any update in a long time...

Well, the thing is that I wasn't even remotely satisfied with the story I wrote for both of them. So a major rewrite to their routes happened. Pretty much everything was discarded, remade, tweaked or replaced...

After I was done with the general rework, and became happy with it, I pushed them in queue... so, yes, Megumi and Nagisa will finally be start getting content updates~

Additionally, the designs and traits of some of the new characters that will show up are almost done.

The importance of these girls in the story, well, you'll have to find out~ 😎

What else?

A lot of changes were done under the hood. Updating Ren'Py to the latest version available (and making sure nothing breaks), so it fixes issues and adds compatibility to newer mobile devices and stuff.

Fixing quite a bit of grammar mistakes and typos.

Giving the Interactions menu to more of the main nine.

Adding new bath scenes for the main nine (replacing the old ones).

And such~

With every new addition, fix and remake, Harem Residence is slowly becoming the game I originally imagined. And it's all thanks to you, your support and patience~

Okay, so, when?

That is the question.

The Town update is taking quite a bit of time, and it's not an event I can't release unfinished, as it could break things.

There's also Platinum, which has one more event to be completely done...

And Aurora, which is around half-way there...

Those three are pretty much skip-able, non-forced events, yet they take so much time to develop. And, sadly, that's what I lack. Time.

The past months I've able to work in the game during my free time, which is basically sleep time. IRL is being pretty stressful lately, and it's affecting HR development time.

That's why I'm shifting the schedules a bit. The Town update will be pushed lower in the priority list, and will be developed among other stuff. It'll be released when it's done, but while I work in it, I'll also will be releasing regular updates with story content.

So, the next update will be story-focused. As usual. It's not quite done yet, but I'll release it soon.
