Invite to Submit Questions for AMA Stream #54

Dear 15+ Patrons,

I've decided to label future AMA streams numerically, rather than naming them after months. This probably makes no difference to you, but it helps me in my brain because I am mentally ill. Serves you right for supporting artists.

I'll go live next tonight, September 12, at 8pm ET. The stream will be posted here and archived as always for those who miss it live.

Use the comments on this post to submit a question you want to ask me!

IMPORTANT: since I can't put a character limit on your comment, I will only read four lines of text leading up to the question mark. Best to keep it to ~2 sentences. If your question is longer than that I will only read those last four lines! This is to avoid multi-paragraph preambles that are awkward and time-consuming to read on stream.

Looking forward to chatting!

All my love,

Natalie

As a kid, I experienced gender dysphoria (MTF), but it largely vanished when I overcame my homophobia, and decided to live as a gay man: common for older gays and lesbians. It’s also not everyone’s story (certainly not yours, since you’re an MTF lesbian, the current probably ran the other way). I work with queer kids. I don’t know how to square this experience with affirmative care. It seems like if you overcome gender dysphoria in this way… win! But, it feels taboo in my very liberal enclave. Insights as to why? Advice?

How do you deal with empathy burnout? (no worries/sorry if this question is too late!)
