You’ve already sent a text to the client to no response so far.
“We’ll give him five more minutes,” you decide.
Flea hums in vague acceptance and slouches back in his seat. His legs stretch out, calves brushing against yours under the table. It’s a peaceful and companionable silence.
Then, he straightens and says, “Hey, dare you to stick these up your nose.”
He gestures to the straw holder, already pulling two out for you.
“Um…” You glance around the diner.
“Come on, come on.” Flea takes advantage of your hesitation, pushing the straws into your hand. “No one’s watching. Please? For me?”
With a sigh, you put a straw in each nostril and watch as Flea loses his fucking mind across the booth, falling over laughing and clapping his hands.
“No! What are you, five years old?”
“Give or take.” Flea grins. “But at least I’m not a pussy.”
With an exaggerated sigh, he slides the straws back into the holder and goes back to lounging boredly across the booth.
“Sure.” You hold out your hand.
“What? Really?” Flea first looks surprised, then delighted, shoving the straws into your hand. “Nah, no fucking way.”
Wordlessly, you put a straw in each nostril and watch as Flea loses his fucking mind across the booth, falling over laughing and clapping his hands.
“Double dare you to stick them up your nose.”
Flea rolls his eyes. “Oh, it’s gonna be like that, huh?”
Not one to back down from a challenge, he sticks a straw up each nostril and stares you down with a grin across the booth.
