V0.12.02 (August 13, 2025)

New game features

- Reworked food system to allow for superior meals to grant the consumers special effects to enhance their stats

-- The "leftovers" system is still in place, so meals created from using an inventory item are not wasted if any is left over after mealtime. For example, 7 party members each eating 1 meal from 1 field rations leaves 5 meals for next time.

-- Meal-based status effects expire after 12 hours. Eating the same same meal again renews the relevant status effects

-- Party members who require multiple meals such as dragons or minotaurs only gain the benefit from a particular meal type once. However, if they eat a new type of meal for their second or third serving, they do gain those status effects as well.

-- The item mousover description panel lists all status effects gained when consuming a meal

-- Added new crafting station type, the Cooking Station that allows for the creation of meals or ingredients used in meals

--- These can be found in most "towny" maps like Aledock Town, Whitetail Watch, Camp Kestrel, Fort Veronica, and more, generally in private kitchens or in/near bakeries

-- Recipe output quantity and costs are likely to change in the future to ensure as many meals are output compared to the quantity used as ingredients

New game content (quests/writing/art/etc):

- Added unique Starmace and Starwand as equippable weapons for player/companions sufficiently skilled in Spellslinging to wield them

-- These can be found inside weapons rack loot containers in Nova's Academy, specifically in the Starring Spar

-- Added a migration script to reset these loot containers if they have already been looted

- Added completed Singularity artwork for Nova's Magical Girl Academy quest. Art is by silververity.

- Added some NPCs who sell bread and cooking ingredients:

-- Bentley's Bakery in Aledock town

-- Redrose Baked Gooods in Whitetail Watch

-- Sugartack in Fort Veronica

- Added a purchaseable book, Marcielle's Guide to Cooking, that teaches various new cooking recipes, including ingredient processessing such as turning wild grains into wheat

- Added new recipe: Fish and Chips. Crafted using fish (either tumdrum or peebletrout), potatos, and flour. Grants the Good Eating status effect

- Added new recipe: Seared Cheese Sandiwch. Crafted using bread and cheese (any of the three types). Grants the Good Eating status effect

- Added new recipe: Toast with Jam. Crafting using bread, sugar, and either moonpuff berries or grapes. Grants the Good Eating status effect

- Added new recipe: Hearty Vegetable Stew. Crafting using potatos, carrots, cabbage, and salt. Grants the Good Eating status effect

-- Taverns now alsoo sell these crafted meals

Miscellaneous:

- Removed the "must have 0 reskill tokens" requirement to make the Mysterious Prophetess appear more often

- Fish salting now requires a cooking station instead of an alchemy station

Cheat/Debug controls (patreon-backer builds only):

- Added filtering on the teleport panel

- The Demon Agent can now be given to the player+companions in the Transform debug panel

Comments

The system has been set up to support that in a most basic sense. Whether or not it'll actually happen I'm not 100% sure. The crafting system doesn't support *modular* inputs so you couldn't, say, craft a never-seen-before sword of Ice and Fire, only one of the existing weapon types, and that seems like it'd limit how effective a smithing / enchanting system could be.
