When Roswaal is speaking with Subaru during the knighting is pretty important. He's basically admitting he is using Subaru for his own gains, but he's doing it by trusting him. He trusts that Subaru won't let what happened with Rem happen again to someone else. The group as a whole now has some great heavy hitters, putting them at minimum on par against the other throne prospects.

2025-10-23 00:02:08 +0000 UTCThe reason Emilia didn’t recognize Echidna’s body is probably because she lost her memories of meeting her in the trial. We know Subaru also forgot Echidna after their first tea party and it wasn't until later that she decided to let him keep his memories of her, which suggests that Echidna can control or erase people’s memories of her and the events inside the Sanctuary’s graveyard. It’s never outright stated that she did this to Emilia, but it makes the most sense to me, especially since the trials take place entirely within Echidna’s domain, where she controls what people remember when they wake up. Again much of Re:Zero is shrouded in mystery and a lot of things are never fully explained (at least in the anime, idk about the Light novel) so these are just my theories.
