2025-09-30 20:44:45 +0000 UTCIt's pretty interesting seeing Echidna, someone who wants to know about everything in this world, say that she doesn't want to know what Satella is thinking. It goes to show just how horrible she was. Finally we get told about the Three Great Mabeasts. The White Whale, The Black Serpent and the Great Rabbit. As we already know the Whale, no need to talk about it too much. The Archbishop of Gluttony even mentioned that their "pet" was loose for the past 400 years and it had been finally defeated. We also found out in the first time Subaru met Echidna, that Daphne, the Witch of Gluttony created the beasts that defied God's will to cure humanity of starvation, so that must be them. So far, everything tracks. We now just met the Great Rabbit and we've seen the Black Serpent mentioned before, by Puck. During the Frozen Bond OVA, the black liquid that swallowed up everything, even the big mabeast, (as stated by Puck) was the venom of the Black Serpent. (Not so) Fun fact: The author stated that not only are the mabeasts made to feed people, they kill people so there is less mouths to feed, meaning more food for everyone else. Turns out, by a strange twist of fate, the first witch the comes out wasn't Daphne, the Witch of Gluttony, but instead was Typhon, the Witch of Pride. Hate so say it so many times, but there is the pride thing again, making me think that Subaru really was meant to be pride. The second one we see is Minerva, the Witch of Wrath. It's interesting to see the Witch of Wrath to have healing powers, although it does seem to trigger from her punching someone. I think a lot of people missed it, but basically what Echidna said was that if he wanted to get invited to the 3rd Witch tea party, he would need to go through even more despair than he did after getting eaten by the rabbits. I can't even imagine anything being nearly as bad. I can finally say it. Back in season 1 whenever we saw the Witch of Envy whisper in Subaru's ear, she was always saying "I love you", the same also goes for the 1st opening of the 2nd season. The only reason that I've seen people say that Satella manifested here was because Subaru "broke the rules" of Return by Death, by talking about it so much. So since she couldn't stop him from talking about it in there, she instead physically manifested (most likely in Emilia's body). It also is supported by the fact that we see the hand, or claw rather, that usually grabs his heart, after Subaru and Echidna have a talk about it.
