2025-09-09 02:39:45 +0000 UTCYou already said it last episode that all of the previous mentions of demons and the story about the blue and red ogre are most likely in relation to Rem and Ram and you are right. The word Subaru uses for both of this is "Oni". Oni is an ogre-like demon (so that's probably why the two different translations) in Japanese folklore. They are usually depicted with a red face and two long horns. I'm sure you've seen some masks or something similar in other anime. I feel super sad about Rem and Ram's backstory. Being constantly in someone else's shadow, constantly being told (even if not directly) that what if you weren't born, would they be even better off, it is just absolutely heartbreaking. It's also crazy to see how closely their backstory resembles the story that Subaru told and how Ram remarked that Rem wouldn't like the story. The talk Subaru and Rem had was also so moving and beautiful 😭 Also we are finally out of the loop and Subaru finally gets to have his date with Emilia!
