same! anything time related is so fascinating, in Re:Zero even though we know the main character will survive it doesn't make it feel any less gruesome and horrifying when he dies π It really brings out our emotions fully, I really like this anime π

2025-09-14 00:21:34 +0000 UTCI like time loop stories like this, in other animes you know the main characters have to survive, so it often doesn't feel like they're in real danger. Especially not when facing some random nameless thugs in an alleyway like here, but Subaru gets cocky, doesn't respect the danger of the situation and promptly gets punished with a knife in his back. It's also fun to think of the different ways you could approach the situation and seeing the it from multiple angles. My favorite anime (Higurashi) is a bit like that too, just not an Isekai and the characters don't really remember the previous loops

I've known a lot of people who stop at the 3rd episode because it felt boring, even though the 4th episode is that whole last fight. I love this show, but it does have a mild opening. From here on it almost continually gets better (except for a very specific 2 episodes).
