Wondrous item, common
A calling can is a hollow metal canister with small holes in one side. On its own, a single calling can has no function. You can connect one calling can to another by tapping the two together (no action required). Connecting to a can in this way disconnects it from any others.
While holding the can, you can use an action to wrap it with a length of copper wire and speak into the holed end. If the can is connected to another one, the sound is duplicated and emitted from the second can. If a can is dented, the sound it emits may be slightly distorted. The two cans must be within 120 feet of each other, and the length of wire must be at least 6 inches long. After speaking into the can, the wrapped wire turns to ash.
"Can you hear me now?"
