Sneak Peek # 4 - The An(n)als of History [Alpha 0.17]
Added 2024-10-17 23:41:29 +0000 UTCHey there, Keepers!
As Alpha 0.17 is just around the corner, let me show you what I'm currently working on!
The Dungeon Codex

You can now open up the "Dungeon Codex", an ingame wiki of sorts, procedurally filled with whatever is currently available in the game.
Entries are created at runtime for any content that gets added, either by myself or any eventual mods you create!

Besides offering helpful guides on the basic mechanics of the game, it also serves as a dynamic catalogue of any encountered content!
Character entries are created as they show up in the game world, and they will have their stories featured on their Codex pages.

The Codex has it's pages linked and accessible through each other, featuring a breadcrumb system on the top and a Back feature so you can navigate much like you would a normal wiki!
Content like Items, Traits, Weapons, Clothing, etc.. will be hidden by default, and become visible as you "collect" them. Progress will be tracked on your current save game.

Unlocked pages will show details about that specific content, allowing for useful stuff like listing item recipes!

I'm hoping the Codex will allow players to get a better grasp of the game and it's intricacies!
Bugfixes
Lots of game breaking bugs have been fixed, here's a few of them that were reported the most:
-Fixed forbidden traits showing up as level up rewards.
-Male pregnancy has been removed (Will be added later as research option).
-Fixed the pregnancy event queueing issues which were breaking a lot of other scheduled content and wreaking havoc on saves.
-Fixed newborns being able to spawn as zombies.
-Fixed "onWitnessed" trait effects triggering repeteadly in the presence of Asocial characters, which caused constant crying and orgasms throughout the Dungeon.
-Fixed lighting and post-processing issues on Low and Medium graphical settings.
There are lots of other bugfixes in place, and hopefully Alpha 0.17 proves to be a smoother experience!
More Monster Races!
As promised, a few more monster races are making their way into DKH. Allow me to introduce you to:
Slimes

Kobolds

Sirena

Cyclopes

And for now, these are all the Monster Races for Alpha 0.17!
Bosan and Harpia will come soon, as I want to take some extra time to work on their visuals!
Let me know what you think!
The Dungeon Court + Third Person Mode
Even though it's not meant to be in Alpha 0.17, I took a day or two off to revisit the third person mechanics and I must say I'm really inspired by how they're turning out!

There's so much I could do with this perspective of the game, let me know about your ideas!
This will be it for this Sneak Peek!
Stay tuned for Alpha 0.17 coming soon!

2024-10-18 05:07:18 +0000 UTCThe goblin has changed over the years. In Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Icewinddale 1, the goblins still had fur. It was only in the later versions of the game that their appearance changed to the scaly variants. Perhaps it would be an idea to keep the goblins dog-like and to bring a race of draconites into the game, who then have scales.

2024-10-18 04:58:50 +0000 UTCThe code is a very good thing and should improve a lot of things in the game. This will therefore be a very important update for the comfort of the game. I would like to see a link between the alchemy workshop and the codex or a corresponding list of discovered recipes in the production list to avoid unnecessary browsing. (Open the codex, search for recipes, search for potion, close the codex, go to the alchemy laboratory (or currently still the trade menu), select the relevant tab, make the potion). Stupid idea on my part. NPCs assigned to the workshops could perhaps add hidden bonuses depending on race/gender. Understandable, but if this would lead to a lot of effort and is rejected. The same applies to the question of whether there will be differences in size for the races. It would of course be difficult to create appropriate animations here, but it would make the whole thing more believable.

2024-10-18 04:50:32 +0000 UTCi think for the kobold girls, there should be a area of the face thats framed by scales, like how the belly and breasts would be without scales
