Hey guys!
This was a fun one! I first played through White Plume Mountain as a teenager many moons ago, run by a friend of mine that had a real love of the modules.
Decades later, it was fun to dive into the map and begin to get a sense of what the place really looked and felt like, only having experienced it as a player via Theater of the Mind. Like many early dungeons, many of the things that exist here don't make a lot of sense and the entire module players more like a funhouse than something rooted in lore and reality, but it almost feels like a rite of passage for old school players.
If you haven't had an opportunity to find the sentient weapons Whelm, Wave and Blackrazor, then I feel like you're just missing out on some fun opportunities to interact with a module from a bygone era. This module was recently (relatively) re-released in the book, Tales from the Yawning Portal, so I highly encourage you to check it out sometime!

As usual, I've included a scene to help set the stage and thought it appropriate to picture the moment you enter White Plume Mountain, leaving your mounts behind to delve into its depths, by Ha Art:
And here's an example of the dungeon itself:
For those that haven't played through the module, the players must recover [3] powerful, sentient magical weapons: Wave (a trident), Whelm (a warhammer) and Blackrazor (a sword), from the lair of the wizard Keraptis within a volcanic mountain. The adventure is known for challenging encounters, traps and puzzles all designed to test a player's skill and ingenuity.
For this map's Sprite, I thought choosing one of the weapons would be fun, and how could I choose anything other than Blackrazor. Katsudon Art did a great job providing a fun rendition of the chaotic weapon bent on eating souls, and I hope you enjoy it!
Some of this month's magic items will be other renditions of these three legendary weapons, as well as NPC portraits of all of the main players within the module.
I hope you enjoy it as much as my teenage self did! ;)
