He's an actual mummy from the past, dug up against his will to be used for cell regeneration. And while he did regenerate tissue, he was also actively decaying so they cancelled out a lot, since he's still technically deceased. This process causes him great pain all the time. The scientists used the data and applied it differently on Ryz (who also has regeneration abilities). He was continuously studied while locked in his cell, wishing he could go back to his eternal sleep.
Now that he's out, he's very elusive, and aloof, and usually doesn't want to stick around dangerous situations that don't involve him. He lets the others fight instead. He just wants to go to sleep, man.
