Pirate Fort Lower Level & Smuggler's Bay Map Pack!

Welcome to the Lower Level of the Pirate Fort of Velkarta, a damp and moldy stone labyrinth that echoes with the chorus of drunken pirates and the moans of captives waiting to be rescued, or ransomed.
   

The Lower Level contains a variety of useful chambers to continue your narrative, as well as several common components of a working castle.

[1] PRIVIES 


What goes in must come out, and what damp and murky lower level would be complete without a set of privies.


[2] BUTTERY


What remains of the castle’s buttery is here: casks of ale, bottles of wine, kegs of beer and other brewed delights to keep the crew brave, happy or perhaps simply compliant.


[3] STOREROOM


Stacks of crates and barrels line this room, along with sacks of potatoes, sacks of grain, beans and other rations meant to keep the castle stocked in lean times. Note: The large cabinet against the eastern wall has a false panel in the back, exposing a secret door.


[4] COMMON ROOM & BARRACKS


Soft bunks line the perimeter of this cozy chamber, while a warm hearth crackles against the eastern wall. Matted bear skin rugs layer the floor and a host of couches, chairs and tables provide ample seating for the pirates who call this chamber home. 
   A door stands to the south, leading to a small room.


[5] OFFICER QUARTERS


This modest chamber provides one of the few officers in the crew a private chamber, a luxury even in a castle.

[6] LOWER KITCHEN


This spacious kitchen provides food to the pirates dwelling in the lower level, as well as any captives that may be awaiting their fate in the dungeon.


[7] DINING HALL


This widened hall contains a chipped table for meals, some cupboards and a banner hung upon the wall.


[8] COOK’S QUARTERS


The cooks and other pirates handling mostly servant work quarter here, with comfortable beds and a small table.


[9] DUNGEON


This large dungeon contains cells for several prisoners, which the pirates leverage for ransom, often using birds as messengers to nearby cities, towns and even ships.


[10] CISTERN


The castle’s cistern stands against the southern wall here, a small fountain feeding water into a basin against which the pirates can draw fresh water for cooking and drinking.


[11] UPSCALE PRISONER QUARTERS


Certain prisoners cannot be kept with the general population and require better quarters and care.


[12] LIEUTENANT’S QUARTERS


In charge of the smuggling operations, the lieutenant holds a spacious private room to plan heists and meet with the captain in private.


[13] SECRET STOREROOM

Accessible by two secret doors, this storeroom offers entry into the smuggler’s bay.


[14] SMUGGLER’S BAY


This small cave holds a small ship and wooden dock, accessed by a cave on the cliff exterior of the island.

This Lower Level is designed for use with the Pirate Fort of Velkarta, but it could easily be used as a stand-alone map in your world, connected to some other building in a city and/or island. The Lower Level could be the base of a smaller ring of pirates, smugglers, thieves or other similar organization.
