Mini day in the life: Pond cleaning
Added 2023-09-12 06:59:52 +0000 UTC
If anyone has any suggestions on how to clean the pond then please comment below. I had a pond before but it had a pump and the water was somewhat clear. This water is so dirty on the bottom and tonnes of leaves laying on the bottom too. I have ordered a pump/fountain to see if that helps but may need to empty the pond, dont know where the fish is and I dont want to accidentally kill him :( called him Nemo
Thank you for the advice! I will go back to the shop and get a filter system, I think I need to deep clean the pond, it must have around 5 inches of sludge and leaves on the bottom. There are 5 fish altogether. Will keep you updated! :)

The pump will only move the water, which may even causethe water to look more cloudy since the flow it creates stirs up the dirt and particles. Only a filtration setup will actually clean the water.
It is not a bad idea to get the water moving, flowing water usually stays healtier than standing water. But just moving it around will not be enough. It is all about finding a particular balance in the pond. It will always create balance, but often that is not the balance you want. So you need to do some research and testing to get the pond to the point you want it. Or hire someone to do that for you...
Good luck!

Some filtration system would be ok, to slowly improve the water quality, it will take some time. I would manually remove some of the leaves. Thanks for your little video 😊

I thought so....I guess she introduced him on stream? I'd love to join everyone else on her streams, but because of the time difference when she's streaming, I'm working.

Putting tap water straight in untreated is usually a no no . A filter setup will take time to acclimatise as it needs to develop beneficial bacteria’s in the filter medium while cleaning out certain toxins & other things building up. If setup with a fountain of sorts this will help oxygenate the water. Larger debris you’ll need to manually clean once & a while. Not sure about the plants ; what did you actually buy ? Anywho I’m sure you’ll figure it out

You’ll need a filtration system like a pool has to get out the dirt and leaves. If not, you’ll have to drain it completely and then clean out by hand. That’s all I can think of.

Think your best bet is going to be to empty the pond completely and clean it real good...after you find the fish of course....maybe put him in something separate for the time being.

Maybe to start off you could get a professional in just to set it up (Ponds R Us). Then you and the boys can keep it maintained after that. It was nice to see the boys giving you a hand though 🐶🐕🥰

I'm not sure if this will help, but back at home, I used to have a pond with a few Goldfish and Koi Fish in it. And I remember While cleaning (To ensure their safety) we used to carefully remove the fish with a net before emptying the pond. and After that, we'd use a pond net to clear out leaves and debris from the bottom. And btw, It's great that you've ordered a pump/fountain. it should definitely help with water circulation and clarity once it arrives. Well, Good luck with the pond cleanup! Han. you got this

This was nice little video, I loved it. Machi looks so cute. Btw you could use gopro or something that might help you to make longer videos and you get both hands free.

You have two little helpers, lol. You may want to get a filtration system style pump instead. I couldn’t really tell how big the pond is but a water filtration system style pump might be better to clean the water over the long run. Just leave that in there forever and occasionally clean the filters. Then the water should clean up nicely. Or take out the fish and drain it, clean it, then build it back up with whatever plants and fish you want.

Naughty machi
The boys seem to get along well together
It might be best to restart the pond from scratch
