Good on you for following this up, both by continuing from the first video and doing your own research at the end of this one. I haven't researched the case at all but I do have something about the footage that I can say, All I can offer to this conversation is a little bit of perspective on the "VHS" footage. I've mainly studied computer graphics and visual effects at college and all I can tell you is somebody faked the distortion on the "VHS" footage I can see that because the distortion on the video is digital and made to look like analog distortion. it's an overlay with no real effect on the background image analog distortion normally tears the image to pieces with weird color arbitrations expanding from 10s to 100s of pixels from the damage. this distortion stays on top of the image merely blocking part of it out. But the glaring error to me is the fact that whoever made it did it in the wrong aspect ratio the video is 4:3 but the distortion is 16:9 expanding into the black edges to the left and the right of the image to fill the screen. neither analog nor digital footage will have any distortion beyond their original borders with the expectation of 5 or 6 pixels at the top of the screen saved for storing Teletext/Ceefax info. I can't say who put the fake distortion on the video but I can say without any doubt based on my own knowledge of VFX that the distortion is fake.
