VANITY PROJECTS
A vanity project is often something an established artist is working on that really showcases the main traits that the artist is known for, usually something cliche. I’ve felt for years that so much of what I share of my work online isn’t my best work, it’s just the kind of thing I’m known for in the tiny, minuscule corner of the internet that I exist in.
These images of Zoe Rose, one of the most beautiful and talented models I’ve ever worked with, is an example of exactly what I mentioned above. Definitely not my best work, and in fact a disservice to Zoe’s stunning natural looks and inherent abilities. I had driven down to LA during the height of quarantine because I was creatively going stir-crazy. She was kind enough to shoot with me, as well as her friend and a few other wonderful models.
We did manage to create some great images that day, but this particular series was taken towards the end when my creative gas tank had run dry. I only share them here to show you how sometimes, with all the dominos lined up perfectly, things can still end up mediocre.
