PLAYER SYSTEM C14 QUEST COMPLETE

A coil of dark wisps curled from his palm, snaking into the translucent body of the Blob Alpha. A shadowy sigil bloomed beneath its surface, like a cursed tattoo pulsing with dread.

Two seconds passed.

BOOM.

The sigil detonated from within, causing the slime to writhe and pulse violently. It wasn’t dead—but now it was visibly unstable and on the brink of collapse.

Jack wasn’t fazed. In fact, he grinned.
He had seen the path to victory.

Again and again, he approached, cast Mournburst, and leapt back. His mana drained rapidly—each cast carving away the Blob Alpha’s integrity. By the final burst, his MP had dropped to just 10.

Then—

SHLORP—CRACK.

The massive slime quivered one last time and collapsed in on itself, bursting in a geyser of gel and steaming ooze.

[Congratulations! You defeated an Elite Monster — Level 12 «Blob Alpha».]

[You have leveled up. Level 9 → Level 11.]
[Bonus EXP awarded for defeating an Elite Monster.]
[You have leveled up. Level 11 → Level 12.]

Jack stood there, panting lightly, eyes glinting with satisfaction. “Two levels… not bad,” he muttered with a smirk.

From the distance, the adventurer party stared in awe.

“He actually did it,” Albert said quietly. “He took down an elite monster… alone.”

Martha gave a small, breathless laugh. “And here I thought I might get the chance to help.”

In the carriage, Asha’s hands clutched her chest in relief. “Sir Larkight… you truly are a Summoned Hero…”

Just then, a global system message flashed across every player’s interface.

[System Notice: Congratulations to player Lar*** for being the first to defeat an Elite Monster!]

All across the game world—villages, wild zones, and newbie areas—players froze mid-action.

“Wait, someone already beat an elite monster? The game just launched!”

“Lar-something? They’re hiding the full name?”

“Probably the devs’ way of protecting the first achiever from getting spammed or hunted.”

“Still… that’s insane. I wonder what class he is?”

The players had mixed reactions to the announcement. Some were impressed, others jealous, and a few simply stunned.

Far from Dawn and Dusk Villages, in the lush, serene elven starting zone known as Evershine Village, new guilds had just begun setting up their banners and recruiting tables under the ancient trees.

One guild leader lounged behind a carved wooden table, a green and gold banner beside him bearing the name [Sylvan Crown]. He wore enchanted beginner robes—clearly a wealthy player from the real world—and sipped on a crafted starter potion like it was fine wine.

He squinted at the system message still floating in front of him and muttered, “So someone already took down an Elite Monster? This game’s barely started...”

Tapping the edge of his chair, he clicked his tongue. “Damn. If I knew who that Lar-whatever guy was, I’d have offered him a spot on the spot.”

---

After defeating the Elite Monster, Jack found himself surrounded by the adventurer party, their eyes wide with admiration.

“Incredible,” one of them breathed. “You really took down that thing… You’ve saved every traveler who’ll pass this road from now on.”

Albert stepped forward and gave a nod of respect. “Blob Alpha isn’t something most adventurer teams could handle. You surprised us again, Sir Larkight.”

Jack gave a modest smile, but before he could respond, Asha jumped down from her carriage and hurried to his side, her face lit with excitement.

“That was amazing!” she exclaimed. “I didn’t think anyone could actually defeat a Blob Alpha! As expected of a Summoned Hero—you really are from The World From Afar.”

Jack raised a brow. “The World From Afar?”

Asha nodded seriously. “It’s what we call the realm you Summoned Heroes come from. A place beyond our reach, but full of legends.”

“Huh… I see.” Jack looked thoughtful, then turned his attention to the Blob Alpha’s remains. “Looks like the elite monster dropped some decent loot.”

Albert crouched down and carefully inspected the glowing remains. “Dense Gel Core,” he said, picking up a pulsing lump of thick magical ooze. “Can be used to craft slime-resistant armor, anti-slow boots… even insulation for magic circuits.”

He pulled another piece from the remains—thin and slick. “Slick Hide Fragment. Flexible, strong, and perfect for cloaks or light gear—especially for terrain where footing’s unstable.”

Jack listened intently as Albert continued listing the items:

– Fermented Core Juice — used by alchemists in stun grenades or as a low-grade magic fuel; also effective as a repellent for weaker slimes.
– Blooming Slime Residue — thick, sweet-smelling gel. Used in confusion bombs and sticky lure traps.

Once the loot was gathered, the group resumed their journey. Half an hour passed under the afternoon sun before the walls of Luke Town came into view.

As they neared the steel gates, guards standing at attention immediately recognized the Guinevere family crest on the side of the carriage. With swift bows and no questions asked, they opened the gate.

Jack stepped in, gazing up at the town ahead. Though it was called a town, it looked more like a bustling city.

“Welcome to Luke Town,” Albert said with a grin. “You’ve earned your rest.”

The stone buildings stood taller and sturdier, adorned with fancy woodwork and hanging lanterns. The roads were cleaner, paved with polished cobblestones that clicked under the feet of passing townsfolk. The air carried the scent of freshly baked bread from a nearby bakery, and sweet, ripe fruit from a vendor’s stall just ahead. Perfumed nobles in colorful garments strolled by with elegance, their finely polished shoes tapping in rhythm.

“NPCs here really look like they’ve got money…” Jack muttered under his breath.

“Hm? Did you say something?” Albert glanced back at him.

“Nothing,” Jack replied quickly, shaking his head with a casual smile.

As they continued walking, Jack noticed people with creatures by their sides—wolves, birds, even a bouncing rabbit with armor. ‘Tamers,’ he thought. But then his attention was caught by something else—several individuals wearing high-tech gauntlets, and one person pedaling through the crowd on what looked like a bicycle. Just then, a newspaper fluttered by, caught in the breeze. It slapped gently against his boot.

He picked it up, brushing off the dust, and scanned the front page out of curiosity. If I want to learn more about this world, a newspaper’s a good place to start…

The headline caught his eye.

“Summoned Heroes Appear Across Major Settlements”

Beneath it were grainy black-and-white photos of players arriving in various starter villages.

But what made Jack freeze was another article just below:

“Golden Clan Unveils New Mech Prototype”

There was a blurry image of a dwarven-designed mech—bulky, armored, and standing at least twelve feet tall.

‘A mech? So this world really isn’t just medieval. It’s a hybrid… a blend of magic and tech,’ Jack thought, his mind buzzing. ‘No wonder there’s an Engineer class.’

As he tucked the paper under his arm, the carriage finally rolled to a stop in front of a grand estate. The Guinevere mansion stood even larger than Leoford’s—two golden cat statues with tails shaped like question marks stood at the gate, regal and mysterious.

Asha stepped down from the carriage and turned to Jack.

"Well, I fulfilled my duty,” Jack said directly. “I should part ways now, after I get my reward.”

Asha blinked, then gently took his hand, looking into his eyes. “Leaving already? Why so soon? You’re welcome to stay in the mansion. You could rest, maybe even join us for dinner…”

Jack smiled awkwardly and shook his head. “Nah… I just want the reward. I’ve got work tomorrow, so I’ll be logging out soon.”

Asha tilted her head. “Logging… out?”

Jack coughed. “I mean, going back to my world.”

Her expression fell slightly. “You’re leaving this world already?”

“You won’t come back?” Albert asked, frowning.

Jack waved his hands quickly. “No, no, I’ll return. I just need to handle a few things in my world. I’ll be back.”

Asha sighed softly. “I see. I guess… our world is just borrowing you for a little while.”

Jack felt a pang in his chest at her words. ‘That line… kind of hits.’

“Well then, here’s your reward,” Asha said, pulling out a significantly heavier pouch than before.

“Wait, this looks bigger than what you originally showed me,” Jack said, raising a brow.

“It is,” Asha smiled. “Because you defeated the Blob Alpha.”

[Congratulations! You completed a quest!]
[You acquired 5,000 silvers! (Convert to 500 game coins)]
[You gained 5,000 EXP!]

Jack’s eyes lit up in pleasant surprise. He accepted the pouch, stored it in his inventory, and gave them a final nod.

“Well then… see you next time.”

He tapped [Log Out]—and in a flash of light, he was gone.
