Get some good meds and ALWAYS ask for laughing gas when you go in. I have a very high threshold for pain but also a very high tolerance for meds like novacane. I felt all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and swore to never be awake again. It also doesn't hurt to do a gagger of some candycain😉 to numb the inside. Love you brother. I've watched every episode at least 20 times. It's a perfect blend of content, humor, and your voice has become my ACMR. Very soothing. Get well

2024-11-18 19:12:55 +0000 UTCI have felt your pain, many moons ago I had the same swollen face/tooth issue, the dentist told me I was two days away from being in the hospital due to a staff infection. One surgical drain in my gums, extraction and antibiotics for a week took care of me for a while. Like others have said, take care of yourself, we'll be here when you are well enough to make content.

We were out to dinner, she was eating something relatively non-descript .. when I could tell from looking at her something was pretty wrong. She was like "I think I just cracked a tooth." Fortunately she found a dentist that she was comfortable with...she's not a huge fan of mainstream medicine, so she was looking for someone who would recommend a root canal as an absolute LAST resort. They pulled the tooth .. fortunately it was a molar, so she didn't need or want an implant. Anyway .. heal up brother. Just became a Patreon specifically to support you while you're dealing with this crap. I enjoy what you do too much not to support you.

2024-10-19 03:50:33 +0000 UTCBest thing you could do. Pull that tooth. Root canals are the ONLY time medical professionals allow something dead to remain attached to your body. A root canal attempts to kill the root (this includes the tooth itself) and then put the dead tooth back in. Bad idea. Talk to others who have had a root canal. They almost always have a horror story of recurrent pain, infection, or having the root canal let's call it reattempted if that is a word. Pull that tooth. Implants are bad too with the whole drilling into your jawbone and inserting screws but that's probably its own episode, lol.

I had an infection from my tooth travel down my neck and infect my clavicle joint. I had to have surgery twice to debride the bone and remove the infection. Right now I have a 2x3 hole in my chest with a wound vacuum attached to it. I'll be on amox for months. So, stuff happens man. Get better, make content when you can, we will be here because we enjoy what you do very much. Hell, I have nothing but time....hope everything goes according to plan man. Take care of yourself FIRST. We got you. 🙏🫶👊🤙

Her face puffed up overnight and she had to spend a few days in the hospital for the same tooth! Just crazy how fast something like a tooth can make you very sick and potentially kill you ! Your experience is so parallel to what happened to my baby. Especially the health care system semantics. Just pull it out! Dang! Hope you feel better soon!

She has been going through this since December of last year. But hers was caused by the dentist not pulling the tooth slow enough, we have those long roots too. Good luck!

2024-09-12 21:47:35 +0000 UTCSinus infections THE WORST, I had one that swole my entire face up once, I couldn’t lay down without excruciating pain, after 3 different antibiotics, a steroid pack and all the OTC stuff… PLUS 10 days it started to relent. Upon attending the referral to a ENT from it not resolving easily, I explained to them what was going on, and how I wanted to take a drill to my sinuses, he said if you had come in last week we would have aspirated with a large bore needle. I looked at him and said I would have welcomed it because I thought I was going to die, from the pain and lack of sleep. As for upper teeth, abscess… same deal I told my dentist, I am having pain, I have had a sinus infection for months (his response was that a abscess tooth won’t cause an sinus infection… 🙄💚, sure) and my gum above the tooth that was only kinda hurting was blowing up with puss, 🤮. But you know what, that never ending, sinus infection that wouldn’t respond to antibiotics magically gone after I had a root canal and crown, imagine that… Doctors just need to listen to their patients, well those of us in tune with their body’s who aren’t ignorant. It would save a lot of time, money and taking of antibiotic’s that are unnecessary. Glad you are getting that tooth out, feeling better and on the mend, I was starting to worry that it was something more serious. 💚👍🏽🙏🏼

Now we have David Grush basically coming out and confirming that we obtained technology through an archaeological day. The crash they're talking about was in Italy in the '30s I believe. The Cortizone just started to break my teeth and 50% of my teeth were still baby teeth so you know, they just fell out when I got older wow I’m sorry to hear that about your problem. If I wanted to have an implant in that spot I would have had to have a bone graft done so the post would have something to go into. The bone graft would've had to heal/strengthen for several months before the post could even be set. I opted for a bridge instead. Something to consider.

2024-09-10 16:24:20 +0000 UTCBeen there with a toothache premolar starting on one Sat night no dentist until Monday… I ended up having an emergency root canal and later a crown but as soon as they open the tooth and relieve the pressure w/ antibiotics you feel better almost immediately… However, I am still haunted by the pain I felt for 48 hours that left me in bed and walking around my home delirious with an unforgiving bashing electrical pain on the whole right side of my face… Has to be one of the worst… Aside from a brachial plexus injury I had which is also nerve damage in the spine… You’ll make it through, hang in there…

2024-09-10 06:39:09 +0000 UTCAJ I had a similar issue. They did a root canal of a root canal. The infection had been eating away at the bone. With the infection being trapped inside a crown. The good news is at my six months recheck with the Endodontist the bone had remineralized. He was really pleased with the progress. So once you can clean up that infection you should be able to rebuild the bone again. Just for heaven's sake get that sinus infection cleaned up.

At one point, I was popping prescription pain killers every 90 minutes or so instead of the usual 4.6 hours just to kill the pain. Thank god my dentist was able to pull it within the next day or I don't know what I would have done. Take care of the tooth, we will wait.

And you’re right, nothing is more awful than tooth pain (rivaled only by spinal injuries & migraines…. Both of which I also deal with on a daily basis). I have a friend that had an ingrown hair wind around one of his upper roots. He’s a tough guy and he was beside himself with pain. I agree with pulling it. I finally found a really good dentist and she advised against root canals. I had one blow up once and it was such a nightmare experience. Sounds like you’re doing the best thing. Also, your mouth will probably be sore after the tooth pull, & most likely after the implants. If you’re allowed, ask for pain meds, take your NSAID as prescribed, and use an ice pack if it really aches. The ice will do wonders! I’d consider myself a tough nut, but mouth and ear pain will turn me into a puddle of pain. I’ve a background in microbiology, & pharmacy.. and have had mouth & sinus issues in the past. Get bett🫶

We practiced primarily cosmetic and reconstructive dental surgery and both my dad and I went to Georgetown, then the top dental school in the nation because they grouped all dental students and medical student together for the first two years. We had Senators, Congressmen, Ambassadors, CEO’s, news anchors and actors who would come to us from NYC and California. Basically, if you spent time in front of a camera,,you came to us. (My grandfather was a FDR appointee to bc the Maritime Commission; he owned three steamship lines and after the war was head of States Marine, the largest shipping fleet in the time.). In other words, we were “hooked-in” both politically and business wise. I have seen many patients going through what you are, but a text would take too long to tell you all you should know. As for myself, I caught nosocomial MRSA while in the hospital for a broken rib. The MRSA left me blind in the left eye, and the drugs they administered (Vancomycin, Ampicillin and Gentamicin) through a pic line to my heart saved my life but the gentamicin left me 40% deaf, with no smell or taste. I also had to have emergency surgery to replace my mitral valve and a CABG Cardiac Arterial Replacement Graft. I went through hell. It was awful, but I was completely amazed at how the nervous system does what it does. As for the episode, take care of yourself first. The old adage "You can't pour from an empty cup" applies here. Short science episode sounds excellent. We've been watching since the early days and those are the ones we fell in love with. Now take your meds & heal up! We all have rough patches, we all get slammed with medical stuff at some point. We all want you to get healthy. Infections are no small thing, and believe me; no one is tough when tooth pain is involved. Chuck Norris would cry. I’m so happy the pain is under control, and I think you made a good decision to ditch the tooth. As for short episodes… yes. Maybe some haunt stuff since Halloween is approaching? Maybe some quickies about haunted landmarks? I used to work at Disneyland. There are plenty of ghosts there. My guys and I went on a ghost tour of Old Town Orange in SoCal, and it was intriguing to find that one office building still has freezers in the basement from its previous status as a mortuary in the early 1900’s. One of the shops (Native American store currently) had bodies in open coffins in the picture window so that people could identify the deceased. Tidbits like that about anywhere would make a great short episode. We love you! Get yourself well no matter what! We can wait.

And in between pointer finger and thumb, I also have had to learn to fall asleep hunched over a sink with cold water just drizzling out slowly and positioning my head so that the water would hit the tooth yet also run out of my mouth without drowning me, it's a lot of extra crap but in the crazy bad pain moments it definitely helps

With them being in reserve, you can release them during those tough times and it may help you feel better about missing a week or being off schedule. Easier said than done, I know, but whenever you have the extra time I would invest a little of it into that. I, personally, don't mind waiting but as a creator (a very very small creator mind you) myself, this is something I have tried to do to make sure I have something there if needed.

A couple years back almost the same thing happened to me but with back teeth. Had to have 3 pulled and bits and pieces were coming out for a couple months. I didn't have money to get implants though. But I'm no longer in pain. I love your compilations, too. I'm hoping you can do some After Files once in a while too. Hang in there, things are falling into place. Sometimes the Universe has its own schedule and there's nothing you can do but go along for the ride. Take a look at what you've learned on this journey, all the people who love you, how you need to slow down sometimes and take care of the boring stuff. In fact, a couple of years back, the incompetent “gods” at the FDA tried to have it removed as over-the-counter and to make it available by prescription only. The supplement industry pushed back hard on that, and the FDA folded. So, for once, the FDA was prevented from hurting the citizens of this nation. I am pleased to hear that you are supplementing your food intake. I take a good deal more supplements than you, but I am on the ReCODE Protocol (reference Dr. Dale E. Bredesen) for the prevention and cure (yes, I said cure) of Alzheimer’s Disease. I am on it (six years now) for prevention. I wish I knew about the protocol, when Mom was alive. You have fans who will speculate on public forums about you, the show, etc., so it is wise to keep that speculation under control (assuming you can) by providing basic updates about what is happening. People are curious and like to fill vacumes, often filling them by assuming the worst. So, basic updates would help to combat that, IMO. I'll be thinking of you the week of the 16th!

I had went to get antibiotics because I knew it was getting infected but I couldn't find a dentist taking new patients. Finally I found one and they got me in. The antibiotics gave some relief but having it out is a great relief!😊 I hope you can get in sooner. Maybe they will have a cancelation and get you in sooner.

You can have the rest of your crew just hammer out a bunch of scripts and you can review them as you are able when you are healthier and then you could just probably hit recording them really hard for a couple of weeks and get your contact back up and running. Really, just whatever works best for you to recuperate and be healthy again.

I made the mistake of going the root canal way and 4 pulpectomies, 3 visits to the ER, and a lost semester of grad school later, they ended up pulling the tooth anyway. TAKE EVERY SINGLE ANTIBIOTIC PILL THEY GIVE YOU. But I’m sure you know that. We would love a weird science video! If you’re up to it, of course. You are beloved and so important to us all.

I know when you get a sinus impaction, bacteria stays trapped in there & festers, but any infection that can eat thru your sinus lining & the bone (even though it's very thin) is dangerous. You need a strong, broad-spectrum antibiotic like Cipro or Levaquin. Also, the blood from any body part higher than your upper lip circulates thru your brain before it returns to the venous circulation. Another reason to stay on top of this. 3 years ago, I got septic from a tooth abscess & spent 3 days in ICU, but a total of 10 days in the hospital. I have the same issue with the long roots on my teeth. I've felt every extraction, filling, & root canal that I've ever had in my life, no matter how much lidocaine they use.

2024-09-06 01:12:10 +0000 UTCAJ keep your chin up! sorry pardon the pun, 2020 little did i know Covid would hit feb time kinda just before fortunately i had massive shooting pains to the right side of my jaw kept putting it of and taking painkillers 3 week later i couldn't take anymore turned out i needed 1 tooth filled and 1 root canal i had the same issues as you with the long nerves and where they travelled so they ended up drilling into my mouth after loads of needles giving me shots and i still had pain the dentist couldn't beleave it and had to stop so 3 x-rays later 2 hygienist at the end one filling 3 times to do root cannel and 2 time crown we were done it was not the best. stay strong mate big fan from England.:-)

Health-wise going forward, please consider the following. If you are not aware of NAC (N-Acetylene-L-Cysteine), it is a great supplement. NAC is the largest protein molecule that can enter the human cell, making it a powerhouse anti-oxidant. I have not been sick in 20 years and I don’t get flu shots and I did not get the Covid shot. I take 1500 MG per day, per my doctor’s orders. I am also 74, walk 30 minutes five days a week, and take Pilates two nights a week. Get well, AJ. Rest!!!

Clean your mouth with a spoon of coconut oil a few times a day and spit it out. The mixture wipes out infections quick and also works for allergies. Don't use toothpaste. Toothpaste and mouthwash are a joke and wipe out the good bacteria. Coconut oil and Xylitol are a natural antibacterial. I add coconut oil and butter to my coffee because I like the taste of it more than straight coffee. I've had covid a few times because I don't care about working next to a person with it. It hasn't lasted more than a couple days since I started with the mixture, if I get it as all after working with them. A side effect of washing you mouth out with coconut oil is your teeth get whiter after a while.

PS: The best advice I got from a dentist when I had a bad toothache was to take 2 Ibuprofen and 2 acetaminophen at the same time no less than 6 hours apart. It was magic.

That was some of the worst pain I have experienced. I had to wait 4 weeks to save enough money to see a dentist. During that time, I tried everything to reduce the pain. I finally discovered that slathering on a peppermint paste reduced the pain and swelling. I hope the meds work their magic and wish you a speedy recovery.

I’ve had a tooth abcess/impacted wisdom teeth in the past, and it is not fun. If you don’t get the chance to upload anything until it’s fixed, I will simply consider my Patreon as payment for the amazing back catalogue I have at my fingertips (and then watch them all again 😉). This is probably no help for this time around, but for the future, have you ever considered cloning your voice with something like Voice Universe, Natural Reader, or Revoicer? It might give you the option to at least create podcast episodes when you’re physically unable to film, but are still up for writing and editing. Anyway, just a thought. Get well soon! ❤️

I've had a year from hell before when I went in thinking it was just my arthritis (and it was) but I needed surgery to keep me from being paralyzed because my spinal column collapsed on my spinal cord... Then got the surgery going back to the neurosurgeon and he noticed a tremor thought it was trapped nerves nope got diagnosed with Parkinson's... It was the end of me being able to work... Don't worry about us.. We will wait just keep us updated and take care of yourself... Something small can kick your ass believe me much love to you all (y'all 😂)

I've had to have about 13 teeth removed because they shattered when my wisdom teeth came in and it caused an infection right under my right maximiliar sinus and spread down through my jaw. Rest, the antibiotics, and lots and lots of fluids is really the best medicine at this point. You do want to make sure that that infection is gone before having any work done. Also, sitting up or bending over putting pressure on the face, things of that nature it can make it hurt more. So try to take it easy. I mean, y'all know me. I'm going to be here regardless of content output. I know that you'll get content out when you can. But for me, it's never been supporting out of want for content, I support you all because I want to, not to make you feel like you have an obligation to have content out every week. So do what you feel you're up to, please don't push yourself. My mom used to say "you can't take care of other people if you haven't taken care of yourself." Hope you get to feeling better soon ✨️ Side note, personally I appreciate the updates like this. for one it helps us know what's going on in your life so that we know how to better support ya, but also it is a different element than the structured content that you put out on YouTube. it shows, me personally, Humanity, authenticity, it makes me feel like you trust giving us a peek into your life even when things like this are going on, and for things like this it doesn't have to be entertaining. it's raw it's real, and I think it can help people connect better. sorry my comment has been so long😅

I was labeled a hard anesthetic so instead of just a couple surgeries... It turned it in 19 separate extractions. The 20th my mouth swelled up like a balloon. 2024-09-05 23:42:31 +0000 UTCFrom someone with chronic maxillary sinusitis who had to have my permanent bicuspid pulled out of my sinus cavity when I had braces almost 30 years ago because it was stuck up there please please please go see an ent just to make sure you are on the right path as far as antibiotics go.. most drs prescribe the correct regimen of antibiotics to fully clear sinus infections they just slap a bandaid on the issue. I’ve since lost that same tooth for the exact same issue in my sinus cavity because of deep infection just it was my right bicuspid

I waited a bit long, when I got to the dentist they said that if i came like hours later they'd just put me in an ambulance and rush me to the hospital. Wisdom tooth but the pain the experience is just about the same.
