I don't think they emotionally manipulating anyone. They are trying to do their best with the personal issues they have going on at the moment. I would rather have something well done and took longer than normal, as opposed to something that is not good and was rushed. Plus I LOVE THE COMPILATION EPISODES. I would love to see a compilation episode about cryptids and how people used to think some animals that are very common now were cryptids until they were confirmed to exist.

I don't think it's fair to gatekeep this Patreon based on how much someone pays each month—that feels really off to me. I pay the $3 tier, and while I understand that it's not a lot, I’m not interested in Discord and only signed up for the early release videos, which haven’t been very consistent. I’m a bit annoyed, but I haven’t made a big deal out of it. I’m an optimist and always hopeful that things will get sorted out. That said, it feels like I’m being told I should just leave because my contribution doesn’t matter. Even though I'm not getting the service I signed up for—yes, even if it’s just $3—I’m apparently not supposed to have any opinion about it and should just go away. The fact that TWF liked that comment feels bad.

For those of you who want to know what David is referring to…apparently AJ’s wife was hospitalized with some cardiac issues. I think most of us who have been complaining would have been more sympathetic if we had simply known what was going on. We are not horrible people. We have sympathy and would put our family first as well. The problem we have been having is the silence. We didn’t know what was going on. As far as we knew we were getting taken advantage of. We had no way to know as no one was telling us anything. Next time just communicate with us. We joined patreon for a reason to support TWF with our money. It’s not because we have to. We can get the vids for free on YT. It’s because we love what you are doing and want to show our support with a “tip”. AJ I hope you and your family recover and are healthy and strong. My only criticism at this point is give your patreon members more credit…we will stick with you if we just know what’s going on. Silence for 2 weeks just makes us all question what’s going on. Are we getting scammed? We don’t know. No one is explaining anything. Accept my apology for my frustrationsIf I had known that your wife was hospitalized I wouldn’t have been so upset. oh wow, I just had a great product idea, sometimes I feel like I'm having visions while everyone else is wearing bifocals. Back when I was a kid, one cool present was an inflatable punching bag. it had sand in the bottom, you inflated it, and when you hit the thing it would just pop back up. Bosco, I see a lot of very entitled people that think giving a Creator $3 gives them some sort of valid opinion on their content. And I don't get it because giving them money is entirely voluntary. If they are unhappy, they can go back to watching it free. And I highly doubt the team is going to give two craps about their $3 when their absence alone will improve general morale on Patreon.

It seems that no matter what anyone does, a good percentage of people here just cannot help but whine. Yeah, I'm dirt poor as well. I think most Americans are. Most people pay 24% income tax, sales tax, property tax which ends up between 30-40 % of their pay. Another 30-40% goes to rent or mortgage. For the person making 30-50k per a year that only leaves about $500 - $1000 per a month for the rest of your bills, food and gas. I work 6 days a week labor and am in this category.

There’s no hate or anything, my morality is just kinda against it at this point. It’s not hard to figure out how much people make on YouTube, plus whatever Patreon and merch gives. Yeah I’m pretty poor, so don’t really care if online weirdos make fun of that (actually I welcome it). But like the only other Patreon I have is for an animal rescue and they post regularly (almost daily, and trust me.. animal rescues are BUSY). I recently downgraded this membership so I can give more to them. It’s not that I don’t wanna support the why files, but the fact is I am ~broke~ and gotta be mindful about what my hard earned money helps support 😅 I support why files as an independent content creator/entertainer, so yeah content delivery is the main part of that. Otherwise, what am I supporting exactly? But basically giving it a little more time to see how it plays out. Hope remains for now Side note for everyone saying they aren’t updating.. they are.. on discord.. sorta 😅 definitely should be updating the platform people actually pay on, but hey there’s at least updates somewhere.

Seen a lot of patrons unsubbing recently. I'm unfortunately one of them. Quit emotionallymanipulating your fans into feeling sorry for you. One episode a week, no matter how hard you try, is obviously not sustainable or realistic. So stop trying to promise it. Why Files didn't get popular by creating 1-hour monthly AI generated videos. It got popular by fun story telling, good research, and clever debunking (also Hecklefish, who has been even more MIA than AJ). SIMPLIFY what you're doing. We don't need TWF to be a History Channel show. I want the old, 15-30 minute goofy, fun, creative Why Files back. This use to be my favorite “go-to” on Thursday nights with the kids. Which is why I pay extra on patron to support video production. Now it’s completely MIA (missing in action). What a disappointment for a channel that had such potential. I’m moving on to competitor channels who actually deliver.

I agree with the update part. The quality of content we are getting though is unparalleled. Typically it takes a whole TV crew months to get a documentary or an episode of the quality we get. I'm just amazed at what we get in the time we are getting it. If the crew needs a break, I completely understand. Normal TV episodes only have 22 minutes and only put out between 10 - 20 episodes per a year. We get much more than that.

If there's time for extra production (which adds hours to what your editing) and merchandise and ama and discord, we should get what we payed for in the first place. Videos that don't enolve intricate ai, full stories (even if they are written by ai theres still time needed for development of the story and editing afterwards, and commercials (for the merchandise)... I would like the videos we started with, low production, no made up storys. Just info pertaining to the subject of the video

AJ & Team, I have a possible solution, given; TWF is a top tier production, given; The after files is a great add on to your episode..Could your team & you ,commit to 2 episodes with an after file per Month? also put the schedule on Patreon? I think that is fair for everyone, Patreon members and your production team. We all understand that life gets in the way and problems show up all the time. I could guarantee that I would not leave. Deepwater, thank you for your response, When I starting watching and signed up the TWF on patreon, it was still a Thursday roll out , and I did not set the weekly roll out nor i did not complain if late by a day or so. I understand you are committed fan , however Patreon money is being used for the producing TWF content. So I guess it is my job to ask the question, What is not happening to get production moving at better pace? I still have faith in AJ and his team.. for now.

How is anything “late”? They release when they are done. The whole every Thursday thing has been dead for a while. That doesn’t make them late. Given the current epic episodes there is no way AJ could release one of those every week.

Except they DID give an update 2 days ago, just a little higher up in the replies: "Will be this Thursday/Friday - as soon as the episode is out of production I will schedule it for a premiere! " These are BUMPER episodes they are working on so it will obviously take longer. And more pressure. For the bigger episodes they should rather give it a longer turnaround time and tell Patreons it could take 2 -3 weeks. There will still be those who complain but there will always be those.

I became a paying member to be pampered or treated differently, but to show support for the channel for everything i've seen so far and for whatever comes out in the future. This channel is like getting an episode of the old school twilight zone on pretty regular basis. Yes the content is becoming for in depth, and the production has greatly increased. So there may be a few week in between episodes. He's figuring it out, and there are going to be ups an downs a long the way. I still support the channel.

It's ridiculous the number of people that jump to the defense of this business. If we are paying for content, we should have content not merchandise. Once you've established a solid routine, then add something else. It's absurd that we can agree it's wrong for the government to blindly defend their peers with baseless facts, but when it's our idol, it's OK to do the same. I understand workload and being burnt out. I worked in kitchens and as a chef for 20 years. If I was late with any of my "art", I would have heard about it. If I strayed from an order and did something else, I would hear about it. If I came to the table and said I don't have your meal ready because I was tired, here's something else, I would have heard about. I also understand he's not doing all of this himself. Well, if they have a team, they should work as a team on the problem at hand. If our government or any corporation was late with service or products and offered more stuff to buy in the meantime, we would be outraged.
