Introducing Tom’s Film Club

Hey everyone, this month I’m launching an exciting new series exclusively for patrons: Tom’s Film Club. In short, it’s a monthly movie discussion in which all of you get to participate!

How does it work?

At the start of each month, I’ll announce a movie that I will be (re-)watching and give you a brief introduction and maybe some initial questions and thoughts. If you’d like to participate in the discussion, you can then go and (re-)watch the movie for yourself, and post comments, thoughts, or questions about it either in the designated comment section, or in the Discord channel. At the end of the month, I will then make a video discussion in which I share my expanded take, summarize all of your input, and respond to your questions.

Why?

So this project will replace the Cinelogs series, which was fun for a while, but I also felt like it was just me talking to an audience again while only receiving responses afterwards, and I wanted to do something different, flip that dynamic around a bit, and have a more direct engagement with all of you who are so generously supporting my work.

Practical notes:

I will make a separate post announcing this month’s movie. But after that, each new movie will be announced in the video discussion of the preceding month (so when April comes around, I’ll post a video discussing the movie we watched in March while also announcing the one we will be watching in April.)
Tom’s Film Club is available for everyone at the “Get involved!” tier – which will soon be renamed to “Film Club”.
The video discussions can be watched either here on Patreon or on Nebula.
