I shot 2 new campaigns for Maison Close in february. Here you see the first one - Le Femme Amazone.
The idea was to create a shoot with kind of a ying-yang theme, because the outfits are all either black or white.
For white outfits we had a black set, and the black clothes were shot more simple way in front of a white background.
For the floor I used 2 black paper backdrops. In the background and on the left side of the frame we have black curtains. Normally if I shoot vertical I would not need the black paper on the floor, but because I had to film and also do some shots in horizontal, it is definetely helpful to have the frame all covered in black. Also it reduces the light spill/reflections from the floor to the surroundings and the model, as I wanted to have a crispy contrasty look.
Under the model I once again used my acrylic black paltes to have a mirror image on the floor to add some edge to the photos.
For the main light I used a 160cm softbox with 1200D Aputure daylight led, this time with a grid on it, to have more control where the light goes and to reduce the light reaching the background (I wanted it to go all black behind the model, as you can already see a little bit in the video).
To separate the model from the background (especially with dark hair in front of black bg) I added a hair/backlight for her on a megaboom placed under the ceiling behind the model, high enough to not create any flares when I shoot. It was a new Godox F200Bi (https://godox.eu/product/knowled-flexible-led-mat-f200bi-f400bi-f600bi/) , very lightweight flexible led light source, perfect for this purpose to put it on a boom arm with no counter weight really needed :) New lights by godox are really nice to handle, good quality and powerful.
Both lights were running on full power If I remember correctly (1200D for sure). I start with main light and adjust other lights to it to have the right amount of light.
