Hey friends,
here in the second bts video for the set I posted last week I explain what lights I used.
Clients wish was to have it all very colourful with purple/pink and blue hues. I wanted to mix those colours to have gradients from one color to another in the picture, but still have some clean white light on the model, to have her more or less with natural skin tones and to show the clothes too.
For the "ambient" light I used 2 Aputure 300c Nova panels with blue and purple settings, which i directed to the white ceiling above the set, to get the color spread around the scene. One panel had barn doors, another had a softbox with grid, for the purpose of keeping the light from the panels from hitting the model from the front and only go indirectly over the ceiling.
For main lights I used an Aputure 600c with f10 Fresnel and pink color setting on the left side of the model, which was hitting the wall on the side of her and slighty hitting her to create some pink tones on her side. The light beam was also controlled with barn doors.
Second main light on the model was an Aputure 300c with clean white light settings, also with a fresnel lens, pointing straight at the upper body of the model. Here I also kept the beam very tight and the power of the light was very low too, because I only wanted to highlight the upper body with clean light, but not to overpower the colored lights too much :)
I also added some effect light with Aputure 600c with a small fresnel lens with pink color settings. This light was directed to a big piece of a mirror reflective foil which i fixed on a boom arm vertically. The created effect looks a little bit like water surface reflections, which i pointed to the right side of the model, hitting the wall near her, and also creating some pink effect on the floor.
To add some movemebt and randomness to this effect, we put a fan in front of the reflective foil to blow on it and create slight movement (not so important for the photo here, but for the video part).
