Thanks for the details! The flatter look does irk me a tad too, and Iβm considering doing a slight mix of my old model if possible to achieve that bolder look while keeping the overall style intact. Still tweaking things, so it definitely can happen.

I think the black lines on the characters need to be bolder (so that the body parts and muscles all stand out) and the skin needs to either be glossier or define muscles/shapes better. And compared to your previous styles the guy's skin is too light.
