Nuki News #89 - Quarter Review of 2022!

Gosh, here we are, 3 months and nearly a week has past since 2022 started. You mighta noticed last week I said I was aiming to stream myself drawing last week's AMA, but sadly I got the unfortunate happenstance of my computer's motherboard going caput. Well, good news is April is brighter because my computer is fixed, and hopefully I've had enough tech troubles to last me the rest of the year, aha.

Right, so, what's been the year like for me so far business wise? I'll start with financials then move to 2022 goals and how it's tracking.

It's too early to be definitive, but it's notable I made less money month to month compared to last year's average($117 less per month), despite increasing my prices both in July and January! Part of it is just the flux of commission types, though, March of 2021 for example, I had multiple sequences AND two full paintings with backgrounds and a second character, and that adds up quite a lot, even if my prices are higher now. And I did make more in January of this year vs last year! With costs going up as they are(rent went up by a whopping 16% where I live)  I'm glad I rose my prices and that people find my work valuable enough to still commission me! I also have to consider timing too- my computer going down left me in a way where I wasn't able to do a sketch stream to recoup costs, either.

Okay, so Quarter 1 isn't going great financially as I'd hope(nothing end-of-the-world level though, no worries!); but money isn't everything! Let's talk about goals!

This year I wanted to stream 100 times, reach 100 heartfelt comments, get 50 patrons, and even make a 100 page digital sketchbook!

I did 18 streams between January to end of March(1.38 streams per week), marred by the fact I was computerless for 8 days, could've easily gotten to 20. Still, ideally I should've found opportunities for 25 streams to match up with the goal per-quarter.

For heartfelt comments- admittredly I'd been so out of the loop on documenting them, that I hadn't checked if I still had the document after all of the computer kerfuffle i experienced last week; good news is I found it, and promptly backed it up, hah. I went through my gallery of art this year so far to document more kind comments left by folks, and brought the total up from last year's 45 to 56! Which is great, that's 11 in 3 months. I'm glad I read through it too, because it lifted my spirits a great deal!

As for patrons, ah, that's been stagnant too- though I'd like to send a big thanks to @BookWyrmGt, @Titus, and @Jayri for pledging recently!! I need to find a way to propell my patron forward that I'm actually invested in/excited to do. This actually ties in with the 4th goal, of making a 100 page digital sketchbook; I may consider changing my patreon halfway into the year or sooner; an idea I had would be to consolidate the goals into one; I make a sketchbook and pledging gets you access to the pages that come out, and changing my SketchaNuki Tier to essentially have me draw a requested character a pose or two per month, to essentially be part of the sketchbook I'm making. Let me know if you like the sound of that!

Right, before I end up rambling, that's the gist of my year as far as goals are concerned.  I'm behind on most goals, really fumbling without direction for two of them- but as I'm not want to be stagnant forever I'll keep pushin' on!

Thank you for your support, I'd been running this page for 3 years, and these weekly updates always keep me accountable and conscious of where I'm heading.
