So how's this going to work?

Hi, all!

Hope your week's started as well as mine. In addition to getting caught up with a bunch of the other stuff that's making my life far too interesting at the moment (turns out there's a LOT involved in moving house...) I've made some great progress on the game, with the writing stage entering its last stages and a few tentative first steps taken on making 3D models and 2D maps. You already saw... well... not very much of one of the new maps in last week's public post (which was the point,) but there's more stuff coming down the pipe real soon, including some first previews once rendering gets underway.

Today, I want to write a few words about relationship quests, and how this differs from the ones you've seen. When you think about it, this is actually the first relationship quest to be implemented since all the way back in the game's initial 0.1 release. At the time, I had intended to move swiftly to getting Becky's quest implemented, but things developed in a different direction, and so she's still waiting 4 years later!

Now, Best Frenemies will follow the same basic structure as the other relationship quests (and indeed most stories in general.) We will have a beginning, in which events are set in motion, a middle, in which some conflict or barrier must be overcome and an end, in which the girls have sex. I'm sure that's not really spoiling anything.

Two things will be different this time, firstly, there will be a LOT more content in this quest than Abbie's or Lola's, and this quest is shaping up to be similar in size and scope to Slave to Love or either of the most recent main story chapters. Second is the previously-mentioned multiple endings.

Now I've learned over the various releases how to handle choices-matter situations in a way that doesn't trap me forever in branching outcomes hell. The first time I tried this (Bad Girl's Bitch / Down with the Bad Girls,) I ended up making two whole quests. The second, (Avenging Angel) I used a technique in which choices kept diverging then connecting back together until the final big choice in Miss Fafine's office (a place we'll be revisiting in this quest.)

This time, the choice will come late on, and will be clearly marked. Most of the quest will be on rails until it's time to decide who, (if anyone,) is going to be the mistress and who the servant!

For everyone else, as I mentioned, I've started putting together some of the stuff I'll be needing for this quest in the software. There'll be several new character models joining our menagerie, more on them later, and a few new locations too. Miss Fafine's office doesn't have a 3D version yet, so that's going to be first, plus the mysterious location we saw bits of last Wednesday. For today though, I wanted to leave you with a preview that might get you wondering what fuckery I have in store for our girl in this update...
