The Deep-Dive into Defeat

The mini-update is complete and in the hands of the playtesters. (Testers, if you don't have it, and aren't in the playtest channel, please message me.)

Now, first, this release has taken 3 months, which is what I aim for in a major update, not a mini-update. There are two reasons for this having taken so long, the first is events in my personal life, but the other is that it's not strictly accurate to call this a mini-update. There's masses of new content and over 270 new renders, which is at the lower end of what I'd aim for with a major update. When combined with the fact that so many events in the game have had reworks and additions, this is probably the most replayability I've ever squeezed into one release. Nevertheless, instead of calling it 0.10, I've versioned it 0.9.A, if only to see the pained expressions on version purists faces at the use of letters.

But I digress. What will you find in this brave new world? Here begins the deep-dive, so as always, if you want to avoid any spoilers, stop reading here and I'll see you at the end of the week for the release all being well!

Now, front and centre is the brand new ending for Down with the Bad Girls! which I've been teasing out in the previews. You will now, at the critical moment, lose instead of win if you have defeat mode on and get this massive new scene. Doing this will shunt you onto the sub route, and you'll end up as Poppy's bitch exactly as if you'd chosen it. You can, of course, then play Avenging Angel however you like, and this quest has been upgraded with new dialogue to handle the defeat route from the earlier quest.

But that's not all! Slave to Love now has a new short scene, Caught in the Act which will come up if you try to reclaim your journal while in defeat mode. Turns out that Chloe and Madeline weren't too drunk to notice you after all. Now you're in for it.

You can also find new defeat scenes all over school. Resist Jess when she demands your seat and you'll become the seat instead! Resist the bullies menacing Mary and maybe this time Miss Pupusa won't be around to stop them. Meanwhile, in the classroom, Katie can now beat you to the punch and frame you for the message on the board, Miss Paris will be way less likely to be lenient with you and Jess will never be caught when she hides your skirt. Worse than that, in fact, she can now hide your bikini as well!

The school has been completely overhauled for this deliciously unfair new way of experiencing the game and fighting is now... well I'm fairly sure you can't actually win fights when this mode is on. I might even tweak that a bit over the next few days to make enemies toy with you some more before they finish you. You're everyone's bitch now!
