Let there be light

Hello, and welcome to this week's public update.  Today, I'll be showcasing some of the improvements I've been making to the graphics of Missy as I've begun the process of re-rendering the (over 2500) images in the game to fit the new, larger window size.

Pron (thanks, censors) is a visual medium, and when I first began developing the game, I was still pretty new to 3D design.  I learned how to manipulate the models, create scenes, etc, but some of my early work was pretty basic.  It also took a while to get some of the characters right.  Miss Paris, Abbie and Karen went through multiple iterations to get them to their current levels of hotness, though oddly enough, the first character model I ever made, Missy herself, was nailed first time.  Maybe it was meant to be!

Although there are far too many images in the game to give them all such treatment, as I've started re-rendering the images, I've also made some improvements to a few of those early sketchy renders.  So let's have a look at a few, shall we?  Above is probably my favourite so far.  Abbie's alternate intro image has been re-posed and re-lit.  The improvement is marked.  Don't believe me?  let's take a look at old and new side by side!

No changes have been made to the character model, and there was no post-processing in Photoshop either.  This was all achieved with posing and lighting work!

Popular girl Becky has had the same treatment.  Again, the character model herself is completely unchanged.

The re-rendering process is going to be one of, if not the most labour-intensive part of the conversion.  There are over 2500 images, and while I won't be doing this with all of them, this does seem like the perfect opportunity to bring the older ones up to code.  It will add a little extra time to the conversion, but I am confident that it's worth it, and also that The Reign of Jess will be a storyline well worth waiting for!
