A day in the life of a Sapphorian (legal) slave

With work on the renders well under way, you can expect another batch of previews on Monday, but that leaves me a little adrift today.  So in line with the result of the poll I ran last time, here is a lore post about one of Sapphory's more enduring customs - slavery!

Upon entering slavery, (be it through conviction, debt default or other means,) a woman is taken to the Sapphorian Underling Bureau (SUB) where her citizenship is formally revoked and she is reclassified as chattel - property.  From this moment onwards, she can no longer own anything and has no legal standing within Sapphorian society.  Her bank accounts are closed, her remaining property, including all of her clothes even down to her underwear is auctioned off, and she begins her new life as a slave naked and owning nothing.  Her only right is the right to life, and she will undergo regular medical checkups, similar to the one Missy does.

If she has entered servitude to a specific woman, they immediately take possession of her, otherwise she is auctioned off at the next available slave auction.  Once her mistress has her, that woman, (and anyone else she nominates,) controls every aspect of her life from that moment onwards.  The slave must obey every order that is given to her, as the mistress has near-unlimited powers of punishment, as long as she not injure or kill the slave.  Some new slaves defy their mistresses at first when given an order too extreme, but quickly learn why this is not a more widespread problem - disobedient slaves can be sent for "retraining," by the guards until completely subservient.

The mistress has complete control over the slave's life.  She can dictate not only what (if anything) her property is allowed to wear, but even little things down to her hairstyle, makeup and even pubic hair.  Many slaves must rise early to perform elaborate grooming rituals each morning to meet their mistress's standards, then present themselves for inspection.

The vast majority of Sapphorian legal slaves spend most of their day performing menial domestic duties.  They must cook their mistress and her family breakfast, lunch and dinner, clean their home, wash their clothes and tend their garden.  Once trusted not to try and escape, a slave may be sent out on errands.  It is customary, (though not required) for slaves to cover at least their vagina in public, if entering an area that is not age-restricted.  Most mistresses allow their slave to wear at least some simple garment for outdoor tasks.

In the evening, slaves will often be required to provide some form of entertainment.  Sometimes they may be required to simply dance naked for their owners, while others they may be required to perform a lapdance.  Owners with high school aged daughters have been known to allow their cruel and capricious offspring to humiliate the slave for their own entertainment.

At night, slaves will generally be used for sex.  A woman entering slavery must quickly come to peace with the fact that she will be used for sex as and when desired, and may not say no.  Sometimes, every member of a family may have sex with her in quick succession, and couples will often force her to engage in threesomes with them.  It is not considered adultery for a married woman to have sex with a slave.  For this reason, slaves must remain fit and healthy, and ready to do it for hours at a time, though their busy lives of toil usually guarantee this anyway.

It's worth noting that slaves who live the life described here are considered to be the lucky ones.  Some women find themselves forced to work as prostitutes and strippers, or even thrown into daily battles at the Great Arena, their humiliation lapped up by the baying crowd there while their owner counts the money she is making from it.  But that's a story for another time.
