Discussion: Should we postpone the mission system to arc 3?
Added 2021-09-18 12:35:28 +0000 UTCAs you guys might have noticed, the mission system is causing a lot of issues, anger, and grief for both me and probably you guys as well. There are constant streams of issues and it seems to be causing bugs left and right even to things unrelated to the mission system. Anyway, the bottom line is:
Would you guys prefer that I take the mission system out of arc 2 and fully rely on the tried and tested combat system we had in arc 1?
OR
Would you guys prefer if we keep going at this pace and move alongside the development of arc 2?
Main reason I'm doing this is cause I feel that these constant delays are unfair to you and it's frustrating for me to have to wait for the coder to fix it. The general pros and cons would be:
Temporarily remove it
Pros:
-I can control everything, which means less delays
-Less bugs, cause the system is pretty much tried and tested
-More player interaction
Cons:
-No mission system for arc 2
-Yukata, Matsuri and Sari's missions will be reworked into fights where you fight them/ events
Keep it in
Pros:
-Mission system and combat system will both be present in arc 2
-More variety
Cons:
-I have less control/ there are more uncertainties
-Might have bugs that require restarts/ new saves like what happened before
Let me know what you guys think, and I'll take steps accordingly. Personally I'm leaning towards removing it, have the coder work on it in the background where it can't hurt anyone, and putting it in arc 3 once everything is nice, clean and bug free.

The story is more important than the mission system. I always look forward to them

2021-09-18 17:12:16 +0000 UTCtoday was not going to leave an update?
2021-09-18 17:05:36 +0000 UTCThank you for being so considerate! I know it can be frustrating when your vision is harder to align than you initially thought
2021-09-18 16:11:24 +0000 UTCI say leave the combat system for arc 3 and let the mission system stay for arc 2 in order to match up with the way the series went in terms of combat.

2021-09-18 15:33:28 +0000 UTCAh yeah, but it'll be worked on in the background, we won't be ignoring it, it'll be worked alongside arc 2, just not in the game. So we'll deal with the bugs that pop up on a separate end without it potentially affecting the save file of the players.

2021-09-18 14:14:12 +0000 UTCIf you implement it in Arc 3 instead, it won't magically reduce the difficulties or the bugs, just push them off to later. Leave it in and get it taken care of.

2021-09-18 14:11:21 +0000 UTCI think if it helps smooth things out you should remove it. Maybe if you like try starting act 3 as a part two game if it makes it easier to include that type of missions with like a save file cary over or code. That might be harder though just a suggestion.

2021-09-18 13:29:45 +0000 UTCI don't mind either option as long as it doesn't effect the story.

2021-09-18 13:12:22 +0000 UTCAh that'd be neat, i quite liked those missions, i voted for both options since i dont mind it staying or leaving. I believe I was too asleep when i wrote my first comment i dont remember my reasoning
2021-09-18 13:09:26 +0000 UTCAh, by removing it I would mean something like having it disappear completely. Like it never existed. I'll restructure all the existing missions and such into missions that are similar to what we have in arc 1. Basically we'll start with a clean slate in arc 3 if that happens.
