It's because he's been made aware of the zing, so he knows that their a soulmate, and even then he didn't immediately fall in love with Shizuka, it took some time, whereas Shizuka seemed to immediately. This is mostly consistent with other future girlfriends barring those with personalities that wouldn't make them be able to come to that conclusion.
