Idk. Part of me kind of likes that they are unfamiliar with the franchise in these reactions.

It’s often considered to be the best Fallout game and is probably the most directly relevant to the show along with the original CRPGs of Fallout 1-2. 3 and 4 take place on the opposite side of the country so are only distantly connected, and arguably have less well-written storylines. Also, Vault-Tec’s involvement in the bombs dropping was a popular but unconfirmed fan theory until this show made the reveal. We still don’t know exactly how they did it, whether they directly used their own weapons or somehow influenced the peace negotiations between the US and China to breakdown, and technically they still might not have and were just making a contingency plan, but that’s definitely what they seem to be pointing at now.
