🧠 SDXL Bootcamp and Advanced Workflows (Level 1 & 2) & Free Setup Guide (Edit: V1 Depreciated, Use V1.5 Instead)

ComfyUI setup for beginners. No video. No fluff. Just clean instructions.

🖥️ Step 1: Download ComfyUI (Desktop Version)

🚀 Quick Start (for the Impatient)

You can skip the downloads, node installs, and folder placements.
Go straight to the Mega Workflow, which includes:

• 🔧 Extra features like ControlNets and quality of life nodes.

• 🤖 More from Noodletron (yes, I can't get rid of him)

• 🧰 A full auto-installer that downloads everything for you, just double-click and answer a few questions

📦 Step 2: Download the Models

Right-click each link → “Save link as…” into the correct folder inside your ComfyUI/models/ directory.

🔹 SDXL Bootcamp (Level 1)

Checkpoint models (you need to already have one or get at least one:

• Real Dream SDXL → models/checkpoints/ (Optional)

• Hyper3d → models/checkpoints/ (Not optional 😏)

• Hyper3d Inpainting → models/checkpoints/

Upscale models:

• RealESRGAN_x2plus → models/upscale_models/

• 4x-UltraSharp → models/upscale_models/

🔹 SDXL Advanced (Level 2)

An upscale model is needed for this level as well:

ADetailer models:

• face_yolov8m.pt → models/ultralytics/bbox/

• hand_yolov8s.pt → models/ultralytics/bbox/

SAM model (for inpainting and mask-based features):

• sam_vit_b_01ec64.pth → models/sams/

🧰 Step 3: Download the Workflow File

👉 Download SDXL Bootcamp Level 1 or Advanced Level 2 (At the bottom of this post)

• Drag and drop the file into your ComfyUI

• Click Open Manager

• If get and set nodes persist as missing do the following:

  • Open the manager in the top right and click "Custom Nodes Manager"

  • Search "kj" and install "ComfyUI-KJNodes"

  • If this doesn't work (it should), drop a comment down below and I will get to it ASAP

• If workflow is blank, press period on your numpad or just scroll through the void...

🔧 Step 4: Install the Maxed Out Nodes (Skip To Updating Below If You Have Them Already)

• Go to your ComfyUI folder

• Open the custom_nodes folder

• Right-click an empty space, then click “Open in Terminal”

• Paste this command and hit Enter:

git clone https://github.com/Maxed-Out-99/ComfyUI-MaxedOut.git

Once it finishes, you can safely close the terminal — that’s it. ✅

🔄 Already Installed My Nodes?

Just update them like this:

• Open your ComfyUI/custom_nodes/ComfyUI-MaxedOut folder

• Right-click → “Open in Terminal”

• Run this:

git pull

That’s it, you’re up to date. ✅

🤖 Step 4: Follow Noodletron

• Both workflows come with Noodletron

• He walks you through the setup inside ComfyUI

• Just follow the note nodes, click what he says, and you’re good

• No videos. No guessing. Just trust the noodle
