Ch.23 I Was Bullied So Hard I Was Isekai'ed Into A World of Sword And Magic And Emerged As The Lightning Samurai God To Hatefuck My Former Bully Until She Got Heart Eyes

— Eris Boreas Greyrat —

A faint but bright light shined upon the young lady’s face as she blinked away last night's rest. As her eyes fully opened and her consciousness grew sharper she found herself staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. For a brief, almost nonexistent moment she wondered where she was. That question was answered when her ears took in the sound of soft breathing.

The red-haired girl slowly looked beside her to see the blonde-haired boy she had spent so much time with sleeping soundly. Eris stared at his face and her eyes grew more focused as she began to notice things she had previously missed about Law. Like Rudeus he had a beauty mark on his face and compared to Rudeus whose face was more baby-like, Law’s face was beginning to sharpen. His cheeks and chin were more sunken in but such a state did not make him look sickly. Quite the opposite in fact.

She had come to acknowledge and respect Law as both her bodyguard, her master, a fellow swordsman, and a friend. In that time she had also realized what she felt for him. Law was smart, smarter than her even if she didn’t like when he showed that… yet he couldn’t see how she felt.

Eris’ face went flush red as she slowly turned away. Her red orbs began to scan the filthy room they had to sleep in the previous night. As much as she hated being in a room like this, she couldn’t bring herself to complain out loud after Law had hushed her. It wasn’t out of fear of disrespecting the owner, whatever her name was, but rather out of hesitance to trample upon what Law had built for them.

They had managed to escape the dangerous dragon infested mountains and even managed to fight off a relatively large group of bandits. Now they were in a town where they were safe, had a roof over their heads, and would even get to eat breakfast once Law woke up. It wasn’t the life Eris was familiar with, it was a lot less graceful and easy, but she wouldn’t speak on it. Law had worked hard to get them here and if Law didn’t want her speaking bad about this place then she wouldn’t. It was as simple as that.

“Mmm.” Law began to groan as he rolled onto his side so that he was facing her. Eris brought her hand over her mouth and stayed quiet. She didn’t want to wake Law, and she had no rush to go out and do anything. After all that lady before had said they would either have to work for her or-

Eris’ eyes widened and in that moment her mind did a full one eighty degree turn. “Wake up, Law!” She shouted and gave him a powerful push that sent him tumbling off of the bed.

*THUD*

Eris watched with excited eyes as Law reached up and placed his hand on the bed before pulling himself up and looking at her with a tired glare.

“What did I tell you about attacking me while I’m sleeping?” Law questioned with a sigh but there was no heat or urgency in his voice. He just sounded tired.

“We are going to be adventurers!” Eris stood up and placed her hands on her hips with a beaming smile. “Rise and let us go on our first adventure!”

Law blinked at her before tiredly wiping his blue eyes and nodding. “Yeah… alright, just give me a second.”

“We should go now!” Eris urged him but he held up his hand.

“Eris… give me a second.” He repeated before creating a water ball the size of his head and bringing it to his face. He let it slowly engulf his face until his entire head was in the water ball. He stayed like that for close to half a minute before he removed his head and took slow yet large controlled breaths.

“Are you awake now?” Eris asked as she crossed her arms. Law gave her a thumbs up and her smile grew. She stepped forward and grabbed the boy by the arm before tugging him out of the room and down the stairs. She had to hold the skirt of her dress to avoid falling down the stairs which was a nuisance, but she did not really have a choice at the moment. Once they went on their first adventure they could buy gear! That thought alone increased her excitement tenfold. Not only would they go on adventures like Ghislaine, they would also do the little things that Ghislaine and her party did when they were still roaming around as S-Rank Adventurers.

As they reached the bottom floor, Eris realized that the place was packed but not quite as much as last night.

“Ah, there you two are.” The woman who had given them a trashy room said with a kind smile. Eris gave her distrusting look. She didn’t like this woman.

“Good morning, Ms. Joanne.” Law greeted while returning her kind smile with one of his own. Eris was momentarily lost in the brightness that was birthed from Law’s smile, but she quickly snapped out of any positive feelings she had toward him when she saw where Law’s eyes were looking. They were not on the older woman’s face but instead locked onto her large bust.

The older woman didn’t seem to miss Law’s stares judging by the way her smile grew just a bit more teasing. “Boys always have it the most rough in the morning, isn’t that right?” She joked and Law blinked in confusion. “Although to be honest I didn’t think a lad like you was old enough to take any interest in girls, especially not ones older than you?”

At her words, Law’s eyes widened and he quickly bowed his head. “I’m sorry, I’m still tired so I didn’t know where I was looking!”

There were a few chuckles from some of the other men and women who were eating from the various tables. Meanwhile Eris was simply glaring at Law and then it was directed to the woman. He wasn’t supposed to be looking at a woman like this. She was plain and had wrinkles that screamed tales of her old age. The only thing she had going for her was her chest, so why was Law looking at her?!

Eris pictured her mother, she was a million times better than this woman, soft yet imposing features, blazing red hair and cold red eyes. Not to mention her bust was even bigger than this woman’s. There was literally nothing about this woman that even came close to matching her mother!

And she was her mother’s daughter… she’d share her mother’s beauty in time with her own twist of power and swordplay. So… why didn’t Law look at her?

“Haha, it’s alright.” The woman stepped forward and slapped Law’s shoulder. “I was just playin’, if I had a copper for every time a man stared at my chest, I’d be the richest woman in this damn village.”

Law rubbed the back of his head nervously while Eris glared at the owner who noticed her.

“Although it seems you’ve gone and made your girl jealous.” She said and Eris’ eyes widened as she looked at Law in a panic. He was side-eying her with the same nervous eyes he had a second ago and Eris couldn’t stop her face from going red.

“I am not jealous and I am not his girl! He is my bodyguard!” Eris announced loudly and the entire room went silent at her outburst. The daughter of Philip only blushed harder at the silence. Now all eyes were definitely on her…

“Ouch, that’s gotta suck kid.” Some guy said from a few tables away with a chuckle. One of the women sitting next to him slapped him on the back of the head and began to whisper sharply at him but Eris couldn’t make out what the woman was saying, not that she really cared anyway.

“… Anyway, have you two decided what you’ll be doin’ today?” The brown-haired older woman asked as she placed a hand on her hip.

“We’ll be heading over to the adventurers guild so we can start the process of becoming adventurers.” Law spoke almost immediately after she asked. Eris let out a breath of relief and internally thanked Law for quickly moving the focus off of her… until she remembered why she was mad at him. When that happened she continued to glare at him while he and the woman spoke.

“Ah, that’s a shame.” The woman sighed. “I had hoped for some extra help around here but I can’t say I’m surprised by your choice. Those swords were dead giveaways.”

Eris looked down at the stone sword Law had made her and felt a wave of pride fill her chest. She wasn’t just some fancy noblewoman who practiced with a sword sometimes, she was a swordswoman who was about to become an adventurer, and for the first time since meeting this woman, Eris was thankful for her words.

“I suppose they were.” Law chuckled. “Could you by chance direct us to the guild?”

Before the woman could speak, a man and a woman stood up. “We can take you, we are on our way now anyway.” The brown-haired man spoke while the blonde-haired woman offered an inviting smile.

Law momentarily shared a look with Eris and she could understand his intention just by seeing the deep meaning in his eyes. He was being cautious and he wanted her to do the same.

“We happily accept.” Law closed his eyes and smiled. Eris could tell it was a fake smile from how she knew Law. She would trust Law on this and keep her distance, not that she planned on growing too close with anyone else anyway, even if they were adventurers.

“Then let’s go.” The man waved them over before heading out of the door.

“We’ll see you later, Ms Joanne.” Law bowed slightly to the woman and she gave the blonde boy an encouraging grin.

“Your room will be here for you when you return, or you can get another one. Be careful out there.”

“We will!” Law waved as he moved toward the exit and out of the door with Eris just in front of him.

They followed after the man and woman and once they caught up to them, Law began small talk with them. Eris tuned them out because they weren’t talking about the nit and grit when it came to adventuring. Law was asking simple questions like how long they’ve been adventurers and they’d answer before asking Law a question. It was clear Law was being secretive on purpose since his answers were very vague, which is something Eris didn’t fully understand. The concept of hiding where she came from was foreign to her since she had always been proud of the Boreas Greyrat name… that being said she had experienced a kidnapping and didn’t want to go through that again, even if she could most likely defend herself.

Eventually the four arrived at the guild with no problems and they all entered together before the pair split off to head over to a board. Eris noticed Law was just standing there, taking in all the sights and she couldn’t believe it! This was their time!

“What are we standing around for? Let’s register!” Eris beamed with sparkling eyes as she spotted the desk with a couple workers behind it. She wasted no time running over and slamming her hand on the desk.

“How may I-”

“We want to be adventurers!” Eris shouted loudly, loud enough for the entire guildhall to hear and acknowledge the birth of the greatest adventuring duo to ever live!

“Ahem.” Law walked over and coughed into his hand. “What my dear friend was trying to say is that we would like to register as adventurers.”

“Oh, I see.” The blonde-haired woman behind the desk pushed her glasses up and looked at the two with scrutinizing focus. “You two are a bit young… Areare your parents around?”

“Why does that matter?” Eris tilted her head in genuine confusion. “We want to be adventurers, not them.”

“Yes… that is true, but it would not be in the guild’s interest if we recruited two new adventurers only for their parents to come in here and complain.”

“Believe me, there will be no complaints anytime soon. We’re a long way from home.” Law stepped forward and looked up at the guild clerk who frowned down at him.

“Hm, runaways then. I suppose. There should be no problem then.” The woman pulled out a drawer in front of her and reached into it. The sound of shuffling paper sounded for a few seconds before she pulled out two sheets and put them in front of the two. “There are your guild registration papers. Fill them out to the best of your ability, and please, answer each question honestly and to the best of your ability.”

“We will, thank you Ms.” Law with a bow and Eris wasted no time snatching up both papers and a couple of quills. They walked over to an empty bench and took a seat.

Eris began to read through the paper and her face scrunched at all the words. They wanted her name, her age, her birthday, and a bunch of things she didn’t really understand like her ‘previous profession’ and stupid things like that! Why is there so much? Why can’t they just become adventurers?!

“Are guild applications like this everywhere or just the Asuran Kingdom?” Law questioned to himself quietly. Eris looked over at him with a raised brow and he noticed her confusion. “It’s just that this application entails more than I expected. It would make sense if this was an Asuran Kingdom exclusive issue since nobles here are much more… annoying—no offense.”

“Shut up.” Eris frowned at Law and he shrugged.

“What I meant is that nobles likely often hire adventurers from this kingdom, and thus they would only want the good ones that could get through this application. It’s relatively simple for anyone who can read and write, but it would be impossible for someone who can’t… and that lady at the desk doesn’t seem like the helping type.” Law added and his words got Eris thinking. He wasn’t wrong, if someone like Ghislaine who couldn’t read or write years ago came here to become an adventurer she wouldn’t have been able to become one unless she had someone around her who could read and write. It seems to just be a jab at those who are not as fortunate.

Eris nodded to herself. Again, Law was right, this was a very Asuran noble thing to do.

They both filled out the applications with no real issues… she definitely didn’t need Law’s help with some of the more detailed and stupid questions, and she’d cut down anyone who said otherwise! Eventually they finished and made their way back over to the desk where the clerk was waiting. She let out a sigh as she took their applications and briefly looked over them. Her eyes widened as she looked down at the applications before she looked forward at the two.

“You… are a Boreas Greyrat?!” The clerk practically shouted and everyone in the guild looked over. Law facepalmed and Eris stood proudly with her hands on her hips, her head held high, and a bright smile tugging on her lips.

“Yes I am! I am Eris Boreas Greyrat, daughter of Philip and Hilda Boreas Greyrat and granddaughter of Lord Sauros Boreas Greyrat, the Lord of the Fittoa Region!” Eris crossed her arms and nodded to herself. She always loved to introduce herself because each name usually made people flinch. It was a different kind of power that she had no problem utilizing.

“I-I see!” The clerk clapped her hands together with a nervous smile. “Forgive me for my previous… hesitance, Lady Eris, I will run these applications and get you both admitted into the guild as soon as possible!”

“Yes, do that!” Eris basked in the urgency the woman who had been so dismissive of them before now possessed. She had thought they were just some foolish kids with no real importance, but now she knows! It is her that has no importance!

Eris looked back at Law and saw him with both hands on his face and Eris’ smile began to fade, replaced with a small frown.

“What’s wrong, Law?”

“She revealed who you are, Eris… and then you followed up with even more detail…” Law deadpanned at Eris who tilted her head. She knew that Law was hiding their identities for their own safety but was it really that bad? They were both strong… if anyone attacked them they would die.

“Why does it matter Law? We are strong. Ghislaine taught us and she declared you a Sword King, these people here are no match for us!” Eris shrugged.

“A Sword King?!” A man with a sword at his hip shouted from across the room.

“Wait… did she say Ghislaine?! As in Ghislaine the Black Wolf Sword King the legendary swordswoman from the Fangs of the Black Wolf?!” A woman wearing mage robes placed a hand on her mouth as she stared over at the guild desk with wide eyes.

“A-A boy his age is a S-Sword King?! That can’t be…” Another man whispered loudly to his table and Eris crossed her arms and nodded sagely with a smile she was trying to hold back. This was what she wanted! They didn’t have to worry about being kidnapped if the people were so in awe by their strength! She felt like a genius—even if she hadn’t thought the whole thing through… the end result was good!

“She must be lying!” Another man shouted! Eris Nostrils flared up at the presumption of a commoner calling her a liar

“Wait hold up, I have heard that Ghislaine has been working for the Boreas for the last few years. So if she is who she says she is, then she likely knows Ghislaine personally.”

Law gave Eris a long look and Eris momentarily paused as his blue eyes dug into her. It was a mix between scolding, understanding, and acceptance, but for some reason it made her feel like she had done something wrong… everything worked out in the end, didn’t it?

Law looked at all the people in the guild who were talking about them and turned away to look at the other guild clerk.

“That last woman said that we were good to continue, right? That means we can grab a job now, correct?” Law asked as he placed his arms on the desk and rested his head over them.

The man behind the desk blinked at Law with sweat running down his brow before he nodded.

“Yes… just let me prepare both of your plates and you two will be ready to go.” The man bowed slightly and just before he walked away, Eris looked at him with narrowed eyes.

“Guild plates show rank, right? What rank are we starting at?” Eris asked with a raised brow. The guild clerk paused for a moment and looked at Eris with widened eyes filled with a tinge of fear.

“My Lady… y-you and your partner will start where a-all other adventurers begin. F-Rank…”

“F-Rank?!” Eris practically shouted in shock. One of her dreams was to rise through the ranks of the adventuring guild, but she had been told of the foolishness of F-Rank jobs by Ghislaine! She did not want to participate in such a waste of time! “That will not do, Law is a Sword King and I’m Advanced North God Style and Intermediate Sword God! Do you seriously expect us to start as F Rank?!”

“Hold up little miss, you can’t just go around claiming your boyfriend to be Ghislaine’s Sword King level apprentice, and yourself Advanced in one style and Intermediate another, you make it sound so easy. As if I have been wasting my life? My name is Isaac and I’m an Intermediate in the Sword God style and wish to test your claims!” A fairly large man with long brown hair narrowed his eyes at them and placed his hand on the hilt of his blade.

Eris looked him over for half a second before she disregarded his existence completely. A part of her wanted to shout at him for that boyfriend comment but instead she stayed quiet as Law stepped forward.

“Believe me, no amount of dedication to the sword equates to wasting your life. It is a good focus to have, one that instills discipline and strength. That being said, don’t consider yourself a waste when I defeat you.” Law placed his left hand on the hilt of his blade as he watched the man.

“You’re a confident one aren’t you? Just know that words alone won’t save you in this fight, show me that your skills are as good as you say they are!” Isaac let out a chuckle as he looked Law up and down.

“Don’t fight yet!” A woman shouted, it happened to be the same woman that had led Eris and Law to the adventurer’s guild. “We have to place bets!”

“Ah, right.” Isaac scratched the back of his head with a small amount of annoyance. “Hurry it up then.”

Law and Eris blinked as everyone in the guildhall with the exception of the two and Isaac ran over to the clerks desks. They shouted their bets to the lone male clerk who just chuckled nervously as he tried his best to do his job.

The adventurer’s guild… was as lively as she had hoped! Eris smiled and nodded to herself, she would fit in well with these commoners.

Law and Isaac both waited patiently as the last of the bets were taken and everyone formed a large circle around the two. The circle was large enough to give them enough room to duke it out. Eris would have bet on Law if she had money at the moment but unfortunately she didn’t.

“Are you prepared, Sword King?” Isaac tilted his head upward and asked mockingly. The large smirk on his face was annoying and Eris was tempted to wipe it off of his face herself, but this wasn’t her fight.

“Yeah.” Law answered simply.

The clerk came over and stopped on the inner side of the circle. The man held his hand and looked at both fighters.

“I will serve as witness to this duel, are both fighters ready?”

“Do we really need a witness?” Isaac murmured to himself but nodded nonetheless. Law shrugged and it was clear to everyone that he wasn’t doing this because he wanted to.

“Then, prepare yourselves… begin!” The clerk shouted and the moment he did Isaac launched forward while unsheathing his blade. Law stood in the same place with his blade sheathed and when Isaac reached Law he attempted to slash at his arm.

Law carelessly dodged around the attack, sidestepping it completely with a quick burst of speed. Isaac was momentarily surprised but didn’t let that slow him down. He slashed at Law again since he was still within striking distance and this time Law dodged the attack with such speed that Isaac completely lost sight of him. Isaac’s body tumbled onto the ground face first but he still clenched tightly onto his sword.

Eris smirked as she looked down at the man. He was foolishly overconfident and it had shown. She was sure the fool didn’t even know how he ended up on the cold floor.

“Are you done now?” Law asked with a tilt of his head. Isaac stared up at the blonde boy with wide eyes and pointed at him with his free hand.

“H-How did you get behind me?” Isaac questioned as he attempted to blink away his shock.

“I stepped behind you…” Law answered as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Eris held herself back from laughing and throwing Law’s weight around. To everyone else it looked almost like he had teleported due to how fast he was moving.

Isaac stood up and clenched his fingers around his blade.

“So you’re not done?” Law frowned.

“Nah, take this seriously.” Isaac glared at Law as he dropped back into his stance.

“You’re a fool.” Eris crossed her arms under her bust. “The result will be the same, an intermediate swordsman cannot beat a Sword King.”

The eyes of the guild were locked onto Law’s form as the truth began to hit them. Law wasn’t just some kid, he was a Sword King, a powerful person that everyone should respect. Eris considered their previous disbelief to be insulting. How dare they think little of one of her masters in the sword and most trusted bodyguard!

Isaac roared as he rushed forward only to stop and cough up spit as the pommel of Law’s sword slammed into his gut. The brown-haired man dropped to the ground and fell into a coughing fit and while he regained his bearings, Law did a small bow and walked away and toward the clerk’s desk.

“So… Cancan we get our plates now?” The blue-eyed boy placed his hands on his hips with a deep frown on his face. His patience had worn thin and everyone could see it.

“Yes… the winner is um…” The guild clerk started before moving over to his desk and grabbing the application paper. “The winner is Law Greyrat. Winners, come over here and I will split your earnings after I have started Lady Eris Boreas Greyrat and Law Greyrat off.”

The few people who bet on Law snickered at the ones who hadn’t before they made their way over to the desk. Eris looked at the people who had bet on Law and attempted to count them. She got to around seven before she shrugged and realized it was a good amount of them. At least some people were smart enough to understand Law’s hard work!

“Before I complete your plates I am going to need a team name for the both of you.” The clerk informed them and both Law and Eris paused before sharing a look. Eris had spent so much time in her past making team names and she really wanted to just blurt one so she could start her life as an adventurer… but she understood that they were here for more than just fun.

“Law… what do you think?” Eris asked the boy who had helped her get to this point. He blinked and pointed at himself.

“You want me to choose?” He asked with genuine surprise. Eris blushed and looked away.

“Well are we not supposed to choose something that will help us find our families?” Eris rememberedreminded as she fiddled with her fingers. She quickly stopped doing that and glared at Law. “You brought us here, so choose the name!”

Law stared at her with a dumbfounded expression for several seconds before he let out a breath and smiled at her.

“I will, thank you, Eris.”

“Hmph!” Eris kept her head turned away and held high, even as her face grew redder from his genuine words.

“Well then, Mr. Clerk… our team name will be “The Greyrats of Roa.”
