2024-05-06 10:50:34 +0000 UTCOK. Worker Ant Theory is a bit deeper. Majority of the ants in the hive/nest are worker ants. 20% of them work hard, 20% of them work lazy, 60% of them work average. That part is true. Now important question - what happens if you make a nest and only select the 20% of the most working worker ants to be in it? Well, the funny thing is that 20% of those formerly hard working ants will work hard, 20% of them will almost stop working and become lazy and 60% will drop in performance to be "average". Theory is that "lazy" worker ants are crucial to operation of the nest/hive. Because in case of emergency they can increase their output. But and this is important - normally it is not needed. If 100% of worker ants worked "hard", it would increase energy usage of the nest (so they would have to be fed more), which could lead to starvation of some ants or even destruction of the nest. For optimal working of the nest those 20% of worker ants "should be lazy" and shouldn't waste energy. They are there to become "hardworking" in case for example 30% of nest population is killed or there is some other emergency. BTW there are a lot of both biological and sociological theorems about "equilibrium states". Some are better proven than others, but in short - principal might get 95% of "great" students and his internal cost (leaving morality aside for the moment) is that 5% of his students will be "trash". However effect on society will be such that other schools will slightly lower output of "great" students so that ratio is conserved nationally. If every school tried to repeat this system, then simply exams to University would become "harder" and all schools would fall down back to 20-60-20 ratio. Not to mention "cost" would become another thing. Likely studies would be even more stressful, leading to more people "burning out" and you'd have overall at best slightly improve education at the cost of mental health in nation. Or to put in in shorter form - there is no free lunch. Or if you prefer, there is no perpetuum mobile - it breaks laws of physics. I'll shut up now, because otherwise I will write an essay on this and IDK if you will even read this "relatively short" comment. ;)
