Healing magic in Mahouka does't work in one go, it temporarily overwrites the state of someones body into a stable one giving the body time to heal and accelerating the healing process, it has to be kept active for quite some while/reapplied regularly until the injury is actually healed. E.g. remember when Mari was injured, she had multiple broken ribs but after a day she was back on her feet without any trouble in daily life, she just had to avoid strenuous exercise for 2 weeks, that's how long the actual healing process took while her ribs were held together by magic.
