2025-05-17 06:55:17 +0000 UTCAs someone who has been playing all the SAO games lately, I do agree that it doesn't completely feel like you're actually playing an SAO-based game. However, the alternate story it creates is interesting, and the writing was supervised by the creator of SAO, so the characters stay true to how he envisionned them. For example, the anime portrays Kirito as some calm and collected strategist who will sometimes go berserk during a battle, while in the light novel and in the games, he's mostly portrayed as shy, a bit socially awkward and not really good at reading the room. Fatal Bullet, the one game based on GGO, feels more attached to the way the game is portrayed in the anime though, even to the point of being able to get Sinon's sniper as a drop from the same boss that she fights in the anime (the boss room is exactly the same, the attack paterns and the weak spot too). So yes, while the games are not completely what you'd expect, they stay really close to the universe and are fun to play, not to mention the improvements they get over the years. Comparing Hollow Fragment to Hollow Realization, for example, would be like comparing Fallout 1 and Fallout 4 : way better graphics, better gameplay, similar at the core but largely improved. And you can easily avoid the romance stuff if that's not your thing.

2023-10-06 11:47:06 +0000 UTCThe crossover game is with Accel World, not date a live. Accel World was written by the same person as SAO and is often thought to be set in the same universe.

2023-07-11 09:05:57 +0000 UTC"why would you have a sword in a gun game?" umm have you NOT seen Star Wars before? If youre fast enough to deflect the bullets then the guns arent a threat lol "I need a big holster for my big penetrating bullets" ummmmm thats not exactly how a holster works but ok >.> probably shouldve said "for my big penetrating gun" CoD: SAO roflmao now THAT was funny

2023-07-08 05:33:33 +0000 UTCThe government didn't have anything to do with Kirito pulling a rare avatar type. While there is no official statement the rumours in the player base is that you get the rare ones more likely if you have a lot of dive time, Kirito might have reset his stats at the end of the Fairy Dance arc (end of S1) but he still has over 17.500 hours of dive time just from his time in SAO, not even counting the hours spend afterwards in ALO over the course of another year and proper full dive games only really started coming out 4 years ago (which would be ~35000 hours) basically the only ones with such a high dive time are SAO survivors. About Kirito beating “Untouchable” on the first try, back in SAO it was vital especially for a solo player (since there would be no one to cover you if you mess up) to learn how to predict the attacks of enemies to some degree. Naturally the first thing to learn would be to recognize patterns in the movement of enemies and predict their next action based on that, but the top players would be able to recognize the fact that the enemy is going to attack and roughly where that attack would land based on their facial expression and eyes.

2023-07-06 17:29:46 +0000 UTCI've heard of Enderal, haven't played it though because I usually don't have enough time to replay the original games enough times to bother with mods, even when it's good mods. The reason I brought up souls-like games and not Skyrim-like ones, is because of particular type of gameplay and darker tone of the world. Especially in the books, SAO is close to that unforgiving world that requires you to master the movements of both your sword and that of your opponents, overlevelling to achieve somewhat of safety in that dangerous place. Not to mention many overlapping mechanics and the boss fights, especially those. My comparison is less about the sense of adventure that anime adaptation made, and more about one-mistake-you're-dead type of stuff from the books :)

2023-07-06 10:32:24 +0000 UTCNot a big fan of souls like games. But I get why you’ve mentioned Elden ring. For me Sao is more like Enderal (Google it). I highly recommend it

2023-07-06 04:16:09 +0000 UTCOn the topic of games: SAO has a number of games, but all of them live in their own gameverse separate from canon, goes in full alternate timelines type of stuff, and has content of questionable (by fans) quality - of the main complaints is trying to make SAO into a harem in games. So in all honesty - if one is looking for a game with mechanics similar to SAO, I'd rather recommend Elden Ring. SAO, especially Aincrad, has always been somewhat similar to what Dark Souls has, but with ER devs added more of an open world and literally swords skills :D As SAO fan I had a tooon of fun in it. With magic systems, I'd even say it's a mix of Aincrad and ALO. As for bringing sword into a gunfight - this actually reminds me of Team Fortress 2, where at times heads were flying off faster from the sword/axe than that of sniper rifle shots xD
