I do love the abridged, for its own takes and the jokes are top tier ngl, but as above post stated, a lot of viewers there love it because it "fixes" SAO, which is a bad take imo, but for a comedic take, its really good. But even still, I feel like watching the entire OG series is first and foremost.

I think, the most important thing to point out - Abridged audience doesn't overlap with Original SAO audience nearly enough to treat it as part of the series (content vise) and push it between the seasons. Abridged feeds of a lot of misconceptions about SAO to produce jokes that sometimes are funny, but makes its audience for the most part SAO haters, not fans. Of course there are few people that do enjoy both of them and see them for what they are, but to me Abridged is a big naaaah.

I've watched the Abridged version and I vote for full series first because Abridged is not worth paying the money to watch the reactions of to me, much less is anywhere close in quality of writing of original series. For one to say that it's "even better than original" is to ignore the plot or to hate Japanese culture as a whole, given that SAO is literally at the status of Light Novel of a Decade there, while Abridged is just making every character into psychopath for jokes and lowers IQ of the rest of in-universe population for same reason. The comment section alone, especially on YT, would just be nine circles of hell for any fan that payed attention to the plot which is not just anyone would sign up for.

Yeah, I'd prefer him to go straight to season 2 or just watch it in the release order everything came out in. Any other watch order honestly just sounds abrasive and not worth the headache.

Damn was just thinking today how nice it would be if you watched SAOA. That said since it only has most of season 1 better do it after that. If you watch the whole series first there might be some jokes that don't fully land because it's been too long. Note: I accidentally voted after the series and can't change it now.

I'd say choose yourself. If you want to head straight into season 2 then do it, if you want to divide the seasons with something really funny and I'd say even better than season 1 of SAO, then watch SAOA
