Also, keep in mind Kawaki's words are ambiguous as all he says is that he sent Naruto somewhere, I would suspect what ends up happening is a lot more complicated than Naruto simply being killed. Some interesting changes you might notice about the ninja academy system now is that kids enter it at much older ages. In the original series kids started at the academy around 5 years old, but now they are more like 10 or 11. As such, the academy teaches more advanced things, kids learn more from their parents before entering the academy, and their time in the academy is much shorter.
