obito had the ten tails husk, which was keeping him alive. sadly madara took it from him.. in other words he's forever going to be in a dying state...

2022-02-06 05:46:10 +0000 UTC77:30 Yeah, it's not too well defined but Naruto's new healing abilities do have limits. In this case he could only give Obito a short reprieve from death. And in Guy's case, well... you'll find out eventually.

2022-02-04 15:18:05 +0000 UTCI think it's better than a lot of other non-canon stuff since it basically tells a full story using the bits of story that Black Zetsu did give in the manga (most of his narration about how things happened coming directly from the manga). One might even call it "half canon" as we know a lot of this stuff happened to some degree, but not if the details given here matched beyond the specific things the manga did mention (Kaguya erasing the memories of the people she revived and restarting civilization, her being the will that drove the Ten Tails, Hagoromo not knowing various things, and so on). For instance we know Hagoromo and the Great Toad Sage Gamamaru knew each other, but not if they met back at this specific time.

2022-02-04 15:06:27 +0000 UTCWell various details from it, namely Black Zetsu's narration regarding how Kaguya is the will of the Ten Tails and that Hagoromo didn't realize this, Kaguya erasing the memories of the humans she revived, etc. are canon from the manga. The anime simply expanded on it a bunch.

2022-02-04 14:24:49 +0000 UTC3:15 Trust me, criticism over how Kaguya was implemented, how Madara went out, etc. is quite widespread in the Naruto fandom, and your critique is pretty mild and reasonable compared to some. That said, forgive the length of the following but I've been wanting to post this for a while and now we're at the point in the story where it's appropriate to. Namely, what I like about this plot point is how Kaguya and the first Infinite Tsukyomi in retrospect explain a great deal of oddities about the Naruto world, such as how small the human population seems to be. By casting the first Infinite Tsukyomi, she turned most of humanity into food for the Divine Tree, only freeing enough of them to keep humans from going extinct and enabling them to continue a few, relatively small societies. Said societies initially worshiped her as a goddess, but would come to fear her as a demon and face her destructive wrath on various occassions. Not much is known of humanity before the first Infinite Tsukyomi, but having reduced humanity to only a fragment of its former population and having them settle near where she lived may explain why even a thousand years later the Naruto world's civilizations seem relatively geographically near to and similar to each other (all speaking mostly the same language for instance), as well as why there are never any mentions of societies outside of the ninja nations and samurai even existing in the current world (no talk of humans on distant continents for instance). The constant wars and very low life expectancy that characterized much of the history of the world Kaguya left behind would further stifle the low starting populations from growing and expanding. Thus even in the present humanity seems to live on only a small portion of the planet and consist of just five large nations (and various small ones) that can be reached within at most a few weeks of travel on foot (though admittedly ninja do travel faster than regular humans can on foot) and relatively small populations. Another sign of this is how the combined military of the great nations numbered a "mere" 80,000 troops, whereas in the real world it wasn't unheard of for armies to be far larger even in ancient times.

2022-02-04 00:19:53 +0000 UTCAs for the build up, it was originally only for the movies - Naruto: The Last and Boruto: Naruto Nett Generation. Only later sequel manga and anime became a thing.

2022-02-03 22:21:46 +0000 UTCI may be wrong here, but as far as I know, Hagoromo having Byakugan and waking Sharingan is not canon. His Rinnegan was direct inheritence of Kaguya third eye, although weakend - which happened again with his sons, with Indra inheriting Sharingan. This anime part on it's own is pretty much not-cannon, as story itself gets so many inconsistencies. Still, fun to watch.
