As you said no spoilers, so I will just pose some questions for you to ask your self as you watch. Both of them are former captains, which implies that they were soul reapers at least at one time. However both now seem to not be soul reapers now yet still are able to use those powers. When Ichigo or Rukia and so on used their swords at least they had to be in soul form to do so. Rukia has shown that within the gigai she can still use her kido though. So the question you should be asking yourself is are they even soul reapers anymore. They both as far as we have seen only have a human form. Well she has a pussy form to but it doesn't seem to be a gigai kitty that she uses. There are definitive answers to how and why, but keeping those thoughts in mind will help you come to it once all the info has been delivered in the show. All I will say about her is at one time she must of had a Sword as she told us that aside from Zaraki Kenpachi, every captain including her has mastered Shikai and Bankai. So in the very least she once did have one.

2022-01-14 20:51:50 +0000 UTCyorouichi just is better at hand to hand combat rather than sword fight. theres like several ways shinigamis fight, and they tend to excel on one vs the other. like for example, renji sucks at kido and stuff but is amazing witht the sword. same thing as yorouichi but shes better with her hands
