2021-10-02 21:06:51 +0000 UTCThe anime does part-filler/part-canon episodes. The bit with Utakata here *is* filler. The anime added it here because they had a filler featuring him interacting with Naruto and it makes sense, narratively, to go back to that. But, no, nothing with Utakata has no actual overarching impact on the story ultimately. That said, there are *some* filler that are worth watching that involve the expansion of backstories for characters that you actually care about. Everyone will let you know which of those to watch.

Filler that gets incorporated into the canon arcs (like in this case) and filler that never gets referenced and is treated as never having happened (and at worst even contradicts the established rules of the Naruto world). I wasn't a patron back when you were at the point of watching the six tails jinchuruki arc, but I'd like to think I would have mentioned back then that some of the stuff in it does get referenced later. Whether that alone makes it worth watching or not I'm not sure.

2021-10-02 17:02:22 +0000 UTCJust because everybody told you to stop the fillers, that does not mean they didn't used canon characters for filler arcs - filler arc before Konoha invasion was about Six Tail jinchuuriki xD It was a filler, yet Naruto cnonstantly mix filelrs with canon, to the point that seeing difference between them is sometimes hard xD
