Moving Forward
I'm not the best when it comes to wording my thoughts, so I'll just put down what's on my mind. Vivian was one of a kind, someone that you could put your trust and faith into, ask her for any favor and she wouldn't expect anything in return. She was there through some of my darkest times and best moments, no matter what situation I found myself in, Vivian always kept a positive attitude and found a way to cheer me up.
I want to share my summed up perspective on how I met Vivian and our relationship over the past year. (If you aren't interested, the future plans are down below)
In October of 2018, a friend of mine told me that he knew Vivian and that she wanted to come back to the community after her 3-4 year hiatus but wasn't sure how. I recommended patreon (I believe Tein Fuon jiu Tempuru convinced her to join PA) and said that I'd love to help her out if possible. Fast forward to December of 2018 and I get the news that Vivian had created her Patreon account, I immediately join and started messaging her. Within a matter of hours we became great friends, we talked for days on end. I'll never forget the amount of trust and faith she had in me, so much that she gave me her login details within the first 3 days of meeting her without me asking for them. We started talking about our life experiences, families, future plans, goals, and so much more for countless hours. February of 2019 our friend group named "V-Force" was created, this group consisted of Vivian, me (Reol), Yukio, and Sotanath. Our group would work together to translate Vivian's work, and 1-3 times a month, we would all hop into a video chat and talk about anything that came to mind. Vivian would draw up hilarious pictures to go with our conversations. Around March of 2019, Vivian was hospitalized due to overworking herself, she had told me that she was exhausted of working for her boss and was finding it difficult to continue with both her job and Patreon. She said that she wanted to start her own company, since she had the skills, talent, and connections to easily run her own, but was worried it wouldn't work out. After a few weeks of talking with me and her other friends & family, she quit her job and started her own company. Things were only going up from here, her company was getting constant work to do, she was meeting her quotas, she had plans of expanding her work overseas, and most importantly to her, she had time to enjoy her hobby of drawing size art. Fast forward a few months, I recommended Vivian to create some artwork for her patreon, something to add a little "pzazz" to it. Without any of us asking, Vivian had created a banner and tier images with images of the V-force group in it, we were shocked and blown away. We asked why she had included us in it since it was suppose to be for her patreon, and she mentioned that our friendship was more important to her than the typical/basic PA artwork. It was moments like this that made me realize how much of a humble and kind person Vivian was. Coming up on November of 2019, things started going downhill. Vivian's father was hospitalized, requiring her to step away from the community and her company. Her company started to take some damage without her being there. A week after Vivian's father recovered and Vivian was back at work, the Corona Virus became a major issue in China. Vivian and all of her staff were stuck working from home while the company took more damage. After staying at home for 10+ days, she found out that she caught the virus and immediately becomes hospitalized. At first Vivian messaged me saying she was doing okay and felt weak. Even in a bad situation like this, she would still jokingly message me that she might not make it and laugh it off saying to not worry about it. The last message I sent her was "Bye! Hope to hear from you again soon", it still brings me great pain that I wasn't able to give her a proper goodbye and thank her for everything that she's done, but I know that she already knew how thankful I was of her. Vivian went into a coma for a day and woke up again, one last time to talk to her husband. Before she passed, one of the things she mentioned was "Please thank Reol and my friends for their support and encouragement". There were so many mixed emotions once I heard this, Anger, Sadness, Happiness, confusion, over the course of one week all of this happened, even in her final moments her heart and thoughts were still with the community. Her full and true final words to her husband were "Don't be afraid, I will continue to live well". February 17th of 2020, at 3:00PM CST, Vivian left behind her husband, her son, her family, and the community. Our thoughts and prayers will always be out there for her and her family members.
Vivian wouldn't want us to be grieving over her death, she'd want us to celebrate her life and to enjoy & remember her through what she loved doing the most, drawing size content for the community.
Future Plans
NOTE - Not everything mentioned here is set in stone, these are just plans that could change at any time
After some discussions with Vivian's husband (Helix), there were a few conclusions we came down to.
The first one being that we didn't want to let Vivian's legacy and passion for the community die here, we wanted to continue it as that's what she would've wanted. Helix plans on attempting to continue her art with her art-style. Of course this isn't a simple task and is a very touchy subject for someone that was so close to Vivian, so please be mindful and respect his decision and what happens from here on out.
The second conclusion we came down to was that Helix didn't want to accept donations, Vivian always wanted to work for her money and wouldn't have wanted to accept donations. Instead, we will be keeping the patreon up and anyone who'd like to support her family can join with any amount they'd like. We currently have it set to not bill every month and to only bill you the first time you join, if that does happen to change in the future there will be an announcement for it.
There was the last plan that I wanted to announce, but out of respect for Helix and Vivian's family, I want to give them a lot of time to think about it before announcing it to the community.
~~~~~~~~~~
She was much more than just a size artist to me, she was my best friend, my mentor, and my partner in crime (😉). Although I only knew her for a little more than a year, it definitely felt as though I lost a childhood friend. You may not be around anymore, but your legacy and your thoughts will always remain in our thoughts and in your art. We'll miss you Vivian, may you rest in peace
