This is way better than Se7en...Fincher is overrated haha. I do actually like Se7en, but it's alot more surface level. Cure is much deeper/scarier and has more of an effect on the viewer imo.

Considering how much I disliked Seven, I was surprised at how much I loved Cure, which it has so many thematic similarities with. It *almost* has me wanting to rewatch the former, but there's so many actors that I dislike in it I'm not going to bother. (Fincher's great. Not dissing him.) Kiyoshi Kurosawa's been dipping back to horror, recently with Chime. I haven't seen it, but it's been getting good reviews from folks I respect.

Kurosawa's artistic eye is something else. The windswept beach in particular possesses such a forlorn beauty. Reminiscent of Crossley among the beach dunes in The Shout. No one has ever been able to agree on if the shot of his wife dead at the end is real or just another vision, but seeing her like that reminds me of the strung up monkey totem.

Glad you shouted out the director, he did such an excellent job conveying the hypnotic theme not only into the story/characters but into the visuals and feel of the film aswell...it's like you're being meta hypnotized as you watch it. That's cinema ๐Ÿ‘

Oh yeah, hyped for this one.
