Society 1989 PATREON EXCLUSIVE FW

I was not even slightly prepared for the escalation of this movie as I went in completely blind but this is easily one of my favorite movies. As weird as that is haha.

Wait this was his FIRST directed movie

Alexandra Wells

I could talk about this film all day 😆 but just a few tidbits I forgot to mention. Check out the statue by the mirror when Jenny loses her earring for some early foreshadowing. Sometimes a film lets you know right off the bat that you're in for something special. For me, it was that opening credits sequence. The song is so eerily perfect, such a tone setter. I wish it was longer. A satirized take on the Eton Boating Song for Eton College. From what I've read, the definition of a high society school. Not to diss on the end credits version of the song, but it's less sinister and more operatic. Brian Yuzna's first film as director and easily his masterpiece. I mean, where do you go from perfection? Since he produced Re-Animator and most of Stuart Gordon's other stuff, Yuzna was asked to direct Bride of Re-Animator, but he only agreed to on the condition he could make Society and that it be done first.
